Some people say that it is important to explore space.

Others say it is a
waste of time and money.

Space exploration is a natural advancement of human knowledge and is powered by our curiosity. It
is very expensive, energy and time consuming so it's normal to question it's use and purpose.

To begin with, by exploring space we may learn about the threats that it poses. For example, we
could use that knowledge to find ways to protect ourselves from the dangers of asteroids hitting the
Earth. Furthermore, better understanding of other planets may provide information useful for the
future of mankind, such as nearby habitable planets in case Earth is no longer suitable.

On the other hand, space travel is very costly because rockets need to be built and filled with
expensive fuel. For instance, why would spending money on space exploration be better than solving
world hunger or building homeless shelters? In addition, exploring space takes a lot of time because
of the distance our satellites have to travel to gain information.

To sum it up, while the advancement of knowledge proves to be useful for the safety and future of
mankind, it's purpose is often questioned because it's time consuming and costly. In my opinion,
space exploration is a necessity for our future.
