High Protein, Full Liquid Diet


Objectives:
1. To plan and compute for the high protein, full liquid diet.
2. To write the dietary prescription according to the given tasks.
3. To determine the amount and exchanges of different food groups.
4. To make sample menu based on the diet provided above.
Questions:
1. Who needs high protein diet?
Patients in catabolic state and those with PEM need a high protein diet. These include
patients with burns and wounds, those that suffer from an infection and fever, cancer
patients, and those who are protein-energy malnourished like patients with kwashiorkor
and marasmus.
2. In what circumstances does the high protein, full liquid is prescribed to the patient?
Patients who have undergone surgeries are prescribed with high protein full liquid diet
for faster recovery. Patients who underwent bariatric surgery are also prescribed with
General Instruction: Use your own height and weight in computing the diet. Provide 20 or 25%
of the TER for the protein requirement. Show your computations.
