WHAT DID AYLA NEED?

The requirements for Ayla Marine Village District Energy Plant were defined after
a consultancy process and after performing a yearly simulation of the cooling
and heating demands. Three 2,000 Ton centrifugal refrigeration chillers in 2+1
configuration shall be provided in order to supply chilled water to the Energy
Transfer Stations. Chilled water supply temperature will be 6 ºC while return
temperature will be 13 ºC.

Chillers condensation system will use sea water, already in movement in the
lagoon, for its regeneration. Sea water system shall be treated in order to avoid
biofouling and marine growth.

Due to high consumption of domestic hot water by the Hyatt Regency Hotel,
even in summer periods, an additional Heat Pump, based on screw compressor,
shall be provided in order to improve the efficiency of the system. Heat pump
will produce at the chilled water and hot water simultaneously.

The Ayla Marine Village the District Energy Plant should be as much autonomous
as possible, for that ARANER designed an almost maintenance free plant without
compromising the reliability and robustness of the District Energy Plant.

condensation solution based on sea water cooled centrifugal chillers. With the
optimized solution, not only the energy consumption is reduced but also the
maintenance requirements reducing the O&M cost with huge yearly savings.

As the system complexity is reduced, there were also important saving in the
capital cost. Due to those important reductions in CAPEX and OPEX ARANER’s
solution was selected as the top wining and most feasible option.

But the optimized chillers with direct condensation is not the only improvement
proposed by ARANER. The sea water treatment system is also a key point of
the advance design. The selected filters are self-cleaning and the advanced
electrochlorination system does not require chemical additives so the
maintenance operations are very much simplified:
