Course Description
(CMO No. ___, series of 2013) Living in the IT Era. Science, culture and Ethics in information technology, its influence on modern living and human relationships, and uses for personal, professional, and social
advancement.

At the end of this course, the students should be able to:


Intellectual Competencies
1. Articulate the impacts of Information Technology on society, specifically Philippine society.
2. Explain how it affects society and the environment and its role in nation-building.
3. Analyze personal experiences and global trends of the digital age by learning adequate formal theoretical frameworks in order to deeply reflect and express philosophical
ramifications that are meaningful to the student as a part of society.
4. Define and demonstrate the most effective ways to promote Internet access, while simultaneously championing the principles of freedom of expression and the free flow of ideas
over the internet.
Course Intended Learning Personal and Civic Responsibilities
1. Imbibe the importance of Information and Communication technology in the preservation of the environment and the development of the Filipino nation.
Outcomes (CILO) 2. Critique the stability, interoperability, security and resilience of the Internet ecosystems such that the student may be able to define for himself/herself the importance of ethics in the
business relationships of IT professionals, including those between IT workers and employees, clients, suppliers, other professionals, IT users and society.
3. Foster the value of a healthy lifestyle and develop a basic appreciation of the complexities of human development during times of fast-paced technological change.
Practical Skills
1. Creatively present a more structured understanding about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and imminent threats of the digital age.
2. Apply the learned concepts to real-world examples of one’s choice, making them meaningful to the student.
3. Illustrate how the social media and information age impact their lives and their understanding of how companies and government manage the disruptive social change of
