Application of

Trigonometry

By-Modit
Class-X-C
Introduction
• Trigonometry is the study of
relationships between angles,
lengths, and heights of triangles.
• It includes ratios, functions,
identities, and formulas to solve
problems based on it, especially
for right-angled triangles.

Trigonometry and Navigation
• Trigonometry is an important tool in navigation, as
it is used to calculate the position of a vessel or
aircraft based on the measures of angles and
distances.
• Trigonometry is also used in navigation to calculate
the distance between two points on the Earth's
surface, such as the distance between two cities or
the distance between a ship and a shore.

Trigonometry and Engineering

1. Trigonometry is widely used in Engineering and

engineers use it to solve problems which include
Measuring shapes, distances and to calculate angles
2. Trigonometry is also used in engineering to
calculate forces and torques, to analyze the stability
of structures, and to design and analyze mechanical
systems

Trigonometry and Architecture
Architects use trigonometry to calculate
structural load, roof slopes, ground surfaces
and many other aspects, including sun shading
and light angles.
For example, trigonometry can be used to
calculate the angles of the beams and columns
in a building's frame, or to determine the forces
acting on a bridge. And also to know the height
of taj Mahal.

Trigonometry and Space
• One common use of trigonometry in space
exploration is in the calculation of the orbits of
celestial bodies, such as planets and satellites.
• Trigonometry is also used in space exploration to
calculate the distances between celestial bodies
and to determine the position and orientation of
spacecraft.
• When an astronaut needs to calculate the speed
they are moving in the spacecraft, if they already
know the distance from a particular location they
can use trigonometry to calculate the unknown
distance to another location
