The Royal Thai Police (RTP) (Thai: สำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติ; RTGS: tamruat haeng chat)

- the national police force of Thailand.

THAILAND NATIONAL POLICE DEPARTMENT (TNPD) HISTORY

- Royal Thai Police (RTP) first came into existence in the year 1455, over 500 years ago.
Modernization of the RTP system came during the reign of King Rama IV (He ruled from 1851 to 1868),
designed by an Englishman named Captain Joseph Byrd Ames
- Captain Ames was the Captain of an English vessel at the time but was given the responsibility for
establishing the first uniform police unit in Thailand. Ames, himself, was appointed the first uniform
police commander by King Rama IV. B (Siya rin ang itinalagang first ever police commander ni king
rama)

THAILAND POLICE SYSTEM

- At present, it is known as Royal Thai Police.


- A subdivision of the Ministry of Interior under the office of the Prime Minister. (under siya ng office
ng prime minister)
- Primary responsible for the maintenance of public order through enforcement of the kingdom's
laws and charged with performing police functions throughout the entire country, (just like pnp it is
also their job to maintain public order and enforce the law)
- A unitary agency whose power and influence in Thai national life had at times rivaled that of the
army.
- Headquarters – Bangkok (and their head quarter is located in Bangkok which is also their capital)

THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

- maintenance of public order through enforcement of the Kingdom's law is exercised by the Royal
Thai Police (RTP), under control of Office of the Prime Minister. (gaya ng sinabi to enforce the law
and under siya ng opisina ng prime minister)
- Since it has to perform police functions throughout the entire country, the RTP is a unitary agency
that has a lot of power which an affect the Thai government. Consequently, every time there is a
new government, the RTP tends to gave a new Director-General. ( Dahil dito, sa tuwing may bagong
pamahalaan, ang RTP ay may posibilidad na magluklok ng bagong Direktor-Heneral)

THAILAND POLICE SYSTEM

- The present structure of RTP is governed by a Royal Decree on the Division of the Royal Thai Police,
created in 2009. It is comprised of thirty bureaus and six divisions directly under the RTP.

THAILAND POLICE SYSTEM (they have 3 police system)

- The Administrative Units – w/c are responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive range
of administrative services which support office operations. (sila ang nagpplano at nagsasagawa)
- The Operational Units – which are involves in managing the operations and processes of an
organization (sila naman yung nagmamanage at nagproproseso and lastly we have the)
- The Auxiliary and Special Service Units which are tasked with providing help and guidance to
operational units in order to enhance their effectiveness and performance (magbigay ng tulong at
gabay sa mga yunit ng pagpapatakbo para mapahusay ang kanilang pagiging epektibo)

•Positions and Ranks in the RTP can be classified into two classes:
1. commissioned officers
2. non-commissioned officers.

MAJOR OPERATIONAL UNITS

1. PROVINCIAL POLICE

- This force provides police services to every town and village throughout the kingdom except
metropolitan Bangkok and border areas.
- The Provincial Police Division is divided into 10 regions covering the 75 Provinces of Thailand except
Metropolitan Bangkok and the border areas:
