NARRATIVE REPORT: National Learning Camp (NLC) Mathematics Participation
One of the biggest programs launched by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the School
Year 2022-2023 as part of the MATATAG Basic Education Agenda and in partnership with the National
Learning Recovery Program (NLRP) is the National Learning Camp (NLC). To conform to this program,
General Mamerto Natividad National High School offered the Enhancement Camp, one of the camps for
NLC, which was joined by Grade 7 and Grade 8 learners (11 males and 13 female grade 7 learners and 7
female grade 8 learners) with marks not lower than 85.00. To support the said program, I and the seven
other teachers of Gen. M. Natividad District volunteered to participate as Teacher-Facilitators for English,
Math, and Science.

Week 1: Expectation and Unexpected Challenges

The week began with excitement, due to Typhoon Egay there was a forced suspension of NLC
activities for safety reasons. During this unexpected break, NLC teachers as well as Department heads
ensured students well-being through online coordination.
Week 2: Refreshing and Regaining
We demonstrated resilience by reestablishing the learning rhythm and focusing on real-world
challenges linked to the storms impact. By weeks end, students actively participating. NLC teachers
conduct LAC sessions given the time constraint and attendance dynamics, discussions centered on
adapting the curriculum. Our Principal, Head Teacher and NLC Teachers also collaborated to share
insights, brainstorm ideas and exchange best practices for teaching Mathematics and Science.
Week 3: Strengthening foundational concepts
Interactive approaches emphasized foundational concepts. All students consistently engaged in
the classroom. During LAC sessions, NLC teachers shared insights on students’ progress, shared students
feedback and adapted teaching strategies, noting both boys and girls actively participating in discussions
and problem solving.
Week 4: Real-World Application
Real-world application took precedence, covering budgeting exercises. NLC teachers reviewed
practical exercises and acknowledged the equal contribution of genders in group tasks.

Week 5: Reflection, Consolidation and celebration

In the final week students demonstrated collaborative skills and ensuring complete attendance.
NLC teachers discussed camp outcomes and future strategies.
In the face of adversity posed by Typhoon Egay, the camp showcased commitment, adaptability,
and enthusiasm of the ___learners. The blend of academic focus and life skills development over five-
week approach proved effective.
We are grateful for the recognition and incentives provided by DepEd. Contributing to this
year’s NLC success story has been rewarding, and we anticipate more collaborative endeavors in
educations future.
