HAPPY TO BE BACK! STARTING THE SCHOOL YEAR WITH A BANG!


A Back to School Psychosocial and Mental Health Support Program
(Counseling and Mental Health Services)

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
To welcome back the learners in school with focus on their well being and
holistic growth this School Year 2023-2024.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1. To help the learners develop good study habits by asking them to respond to the
different challenges that they have to face as students.
2. To help the learners show the proper behavior of a learner who have developed
good study habits in a skit or a role play
3. To help the learners recognize the benefits of having good study habits by
showing /stating its effect in their performance as students in a skit or a role play.
4. To help the learners resolve their psychological issues and concerns and be in their
best self at the start of the school year

Note: This module is for all grade levels (Grade 7 to Grade 12)

ACTIVITY 1(Morning Session: First and Second Period): I WILL SURVIVE!

Session Objective: To help the learners gain better understanding of different


challenges that they will have to face as students for them to be able respond with
their best.

Material/s: Fish bowl with paper strips containing the following situations:
- Late submission of requirements
- No assignment
- No project
- No activity sheet
- Not actively participating in the class discussion
- Low scores in quizzes and examinations
- Poor comprehension
- (You may add other concerns as you see it important to be included/ focused
in the activity.

Procedure:
I. Prayer
II. Setting the mood for learning.
- Sing again the inspirational song sang the previous day.
III. Activity Proper
1. Divide the class into smaller groups ( number of groups to be formed will depend
on the number of cases to be drawn from the fish bowl.)
2. Ask a member from each group to draw a piece of paper from the fish bowl.
3. Let the group discuss about the situation written in the piece of paper drawn by
their group member.
Guide for the discussion:
a. Effect of the problem in their academic performance.
a. Identify the root cause of the problem.
b. State the possible solutions to the problem.
c. Make a plan on how to properly address the problem

ACTIVITY 3(Morning session: Third and Fourth Period): LET’S DO IT!

Session Objective: To help the learners show the proper behavior of a learner who
have developed good study habits in a skit or a role play

Material: Props for the skits or role plays.

Procedure:
I. Skits or Role Play
1. Ask the small groups to present their outputs for activity 1 in the form of a skit or
role play.
2. Set the behavioral guideline for the conduct of the skits or role plays.
3. Give the learners enough time to practice for their the skits or role plays. (May be
done outside the classroom but still under the supervision of the teacher.)
4. Give each group enough time to present.
5. The teacher should take time to give his/her comment or feedback after each
presentation to make sure that the learners will get the correct idea on how to properly
respond to the challenges that may be faced by the learners in their studies.
(The teachers may also ask the other groups to give their comments and
feedback)
6. Give each group a round of applause and commendation after their presen- tation
and after all comments and feedback are heard.

ACTIVITY 3 (Afternoon Sessions: Fifth and Sixth Period): GAME TIME!

Session Objective: To set the mood for happy learning this School Year 2022-2023.

Materials: As needed

Note: Unfinished presentation from activity 2 may be continued before conducting


activity 3.

Instruction to Teachers:
1. Think of some parlor games that will not involve physical contacts.
2. The game should bring out the importance of being responsible, disciplined,
diligent, hardworking and competent.
3. Facilitate the play time observing the safety protocols.
4. The game may be done inside or outside the classroom with the close supervision
of the teacher.
5. Process the students experience every after each game.

Processing questions:
1. Did you enjoy the game? Why?
2. What made you win the game?
3. What made you lose the game?
4. Any lesson learned from the game?

*There could be more than 1 game to be played per period but always make sure to
process each game.

ACTIVITY 4 (Seventh Period) KAYA KO ITO!

Session Objective: To help the learners commit themselves in developing good


study habits.

I. Making my “Academic Code of Conduct”.


Procedure:
1. The teacher will present some tips for good study habits.
2. The learners will be asked to make their “academic code of conduct”

ACTIVITY 5 ( Eighth Period): EVALUATION

Session Objective: To find out if the objectives for the psycho-social support and
mental health program was fully achieved.

Materials: Evaluation Form

Procedure:
I. Evaluation
1. The teacher will explain the importance of evaluating the activities of the day.
2. The teacher will ask the students to accomplish the evaluation form.

or Iloco)
