DAMAGE IN TRANSPORTATION
All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent write “Damage In Shipment” on ALL
copies of the freight or express bill BEFORE delivery is accepted or “signed for” by a GE representative or hospital receiving
agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage MUST be reported to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event,
within 14 days after receipt, and the contents and containers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation company
will not pay a claim for damage if an inspection is not requested within this 14 day period.

CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR STATEMENT

All electrical Installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared for the equipment shall be
performed by licensed electrical contractors. In addition, electrical feeds into the Power Distribution Unit shall be performed
by licensed electrical contractors. Other connections between pieces of electrical equipment, calibrations and testing shall
be performed by qualified GE Medical personnel. The products involved (and the accompanying electrical installations) are
highly sophisticated, and special engineering competence is required. In performing all electrical work on these products,
GE will use its own specially trained field engineers. All of GE’s electrical work on these products will comply with the
requirements of the applicable electrical codes.
The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GE’s field engineers, personnel of third-party
service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to perform electrical servicing on the equipment.
IMPORTANT! . . . X-RAY PROTECTION

X-ray equipment if not properly used may cause injury. Accordingly, the instructions herein contained should be thoroughly
read and understood by everyone who will use the equipment before you attempt to place this equipment in operation. The
General Electric Company, Medical Systems Group, will be glad to assist and cooperate in placing this equipment in use.
Although this apparatus incorporates a high degree of protection against x-radiation other than the useful beam, no practical
design of equipment can provide complete protection. Nor can any practical design compel the operator to take adequate
precautions to prevent the possibility of any persons carelessly exposing themselves or others to radiation.
It is important that anyone having anything to do with x-radiation be properly trained and fully acquainted with the
recommendations of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements as published in NCRP Reports
available from NCRP Publications, 7910 Woodmont Avenue, Room 1016, Bethesda, Maryland 20814, and of the
International Commission on Radiation Protection, and take adequate steps to protect against injury.
The equipment is sold with the understanding that the General Electric Company, Medical Systems Group, its agents, and
representatives have no responsibility for injury or damage which may result from improper use of the equipment.
Various protective materials and devices are available. It is urged that such materials or devices be used.

LITHIUM BATTERY CAUTIONARY STATEMENTS
CAUTION
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent
type recommended by the manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.

1. Press an emergency OFF switch on the Gantry front panel and verify that the power for Table/Gantry (Servo
Amp, Gantry control, and Table/Tilt) is removed.
2. Turn the power switch of the Operator Console OFF, then ON again. Verify that all systems, including Table/
Gantry, are turned ON.
3. Repeat this check for all the other emergency switches on the Gantry(six in all), PDU, and Operator Console
(See illustration below).

c. Verify that the X-ray ON lights illuminates on the keyboard and Gantry front panel.
d. Verify that the X-ray room (Gantry room) warning lights connected to the system are operating normally.
2. Check the operating of scan abort for the following :
a. Perform an axial scan.
b. Press the Abort switch on the Operator Console while performing a scan and verify that X-ray exposure is
terminated.

Note
If shadow or white band exists, make sure to select appropriate channel so that the channel could
across shadow or white band.
f. Analysis: If shadow (white band) appears in Sinogram (as shown in following three figures), it means that
there is a high probability that gas bubble exist in tube. When small, bands may not cover all views or look
like streaks across the VVC.
Note
sometimes there is no problem for some air scan data, it is also possible for existing bubble, just
doesn't affect that special scan.

3. Take off tube for further inspection (see component replacement manual for detailed procedures), check tube
port and anode end fill plug for gas bubble.

The maintenace tasks which follow include procedures concerned with the cleaning of
equipment (Table Tray, Gantry Cover, etc.). Refer to local/company guidelines for those
procedures, especially where body fluids or other possible contaminates are present.

1. Check the Mylar ring cover for the following :
• Check that no scratches or damage are present on the Mylar ring cover.
• Check that the ring surface is clean, free of contrast agent or smudge; if not, clean it.
• Contrast agent can be wiped clean using warm water.
• Check that the ring is properly installed in the Gantry opening.

TASK DESCRIPTION
1. Set the Gantry to the 0_ tilt position and lower the table to its lowest position.
2. Switch OFF the “Rotate”, “XG Power” and “Table/Tilt” switches at the Gantry rear base.
3. Remove the front, right side, and left maintenance covers.
4. Switch ON the service switch on the SUB board near the TGP board.
5. Rotate the gantry in the CW direction by hand and make sure all cables, harness, and other hardware are firmly
attached.
Note
If any components are loose, tighten it to the specified torque.
Refer to TORQUE VALUE FOR SCREW TIGHTENING in the INTRODUCTION tab of the

ROTATION HAZARD!
WHEN YOU PRESS THE ‘POSN LIGHT’ BUTTONS (LARGE BUTTON AND SMALL BUTTON),
THE GANTRY QUICKLY ROTATES TO THE -14 DEG. POSITION. IF IT IS NECESSARY TO
PLACE ANY PART OF YOUR BODY INSIDE OR NEAR THE GANTRY, SWITCH OFF THE
‘ROTATE’ SWITCH FIRST.
CAUTION
Damage to visual function !!
Never look directly into the positioning lights. The lights can severely harm the eyes.

1. Push the ‘POSN Light’ button.
2. Verify that the Ganty rotates to the Home position and the positioning lights are turned ON.
(The Gantry does not rotate, if it is already positioned at the Home position.)
Note
(If the positioning lights are not turned ON, push the reset switch on the TGP Board once and
perform the above)
3. Check if both internal and external positioning lights are properly adjusted.
4. Verify that the positioning lights are turned OFF automatically after approximately 1 minute.

TASK DESCRIPTION
1. Inspection that the Gantry is firmly anchored to the floor by four anchor bolts and that no cracks exist on the
insulating plate for each anchor bolt.

NOTICE
To ensure the quality of the lubricant, please order the lubricant from GPO. Otherwise,
unqualified lubricant may cause damage to bearing.

TASK DESCRIPTION
1. Switch OFF the “Rotate” and “XG Power” switches at the Gantry rear base.
2. Remove the rear, right side, and left maintenance covers.
Note
New grease must be used. Do NOT reuse a grease cartridge; open a brand new grease cartridge
every time you perform this operation.
4. Input the grease(SHELL ALVANIA grease #2) into the grease gun.

Purpose : Main Bearing Grease-Up Estimated Time:0:20 Rev 3
5. Attach the grease gun to the bearing grease nipple (see illustration 3-2).
6. Inject the grease (one cartridge) while rotating the Gantry slowly by hand. Any grease which leaks between the
shaft of main bearing and housing must be wiped clean.
NOTICE
Slow pumping operation is required. If pumped fast, new grease will be soon ejected so that
new grease can NOT reach the main bearing.
7. Switch OFF the service switch.

8. Attach the safety switch bracket (rear, right side) to the right side of Gantry.
9. Switch ON the “Rotate” and “XG Power” switches at the Gantry rear base.
10. Rotate the Gantry for approximately 10 minutes using the toggle switches on the TGP board and verify that the
Gantry rotation is smooth.
11. Switch OFF the “Rotate” and “XG” switches at the Gantry rear base.
12. Wipe clean any grease which has leaked between the bearing and the housing.
13. Install the rear, right side, and left maintenance covers.
14. Switch ON the “Rotate” and “XG” switches at the Gantry rear base.

sure to check the entire drive belt.

DAS Base ends (white circles in Illustration 4-2).

TASK DESCRIPTION
1. Check each head holder on site for the following:
• The latch hook stops at each of the lock and release positions.
• The hook axis has not become weak.
• No cracks exist on the acrylic resin parts; especially inspect well the rib root (where the patient’s neck is
placed), and parts around the flat head screws.
If any crack is found, replace the head holder.
• No flat head screws are loose. If loosened, tighten those. (Torque: 8 kg-cm; turn the grip of the
screwdriver using thumb, index finger, and middle finger, which gives approximately this torque.)
Tighten the loosened screws only, and DO NOT excessively tighten the screws, which will cause cracks.
• All velcro tape is securely attached to the head holders. If not the case, replace the velcro tape.
• Check that the lock hook is securely attached to each head holder.
If not, tighten the loosened flat head screw. Do not over tighten screws.
• Repeat the same check for the cradle side lock hook.

1. Check the cradle for the following
• Check that the Velcro tape of the cradle is securely attached. If the Velcro tape has come off, replace
the cradle.
• Check that the attachment rails are not damaged or cracked. If damaged, replace them.
• Check that the cradle rails are not damaged or cracked. If damaged, replace the cradle as an assembly.
• Set the body strap to the attachment rails, then pull the strap by the force of approx. 15 kgf, using a spring
balance. Verify that the strap do NOT be removed from the rail. If not, replace the strap, attachment rails
or cradle.

5. Verify that cradle posiion LED on the Gantry display is on, and cradle does move “IN” when cradle “IN” SW is
pressed.
6. Repeat the same check for the opposite unlatch switch.

1. Raise the Table to the highest position.
2. Tilt the Gantry to the 0 deg. position.
3. Move the cradle to an position except the out limit position.
4. Move the Table down until it stops automatically ; this is the interlock position, but that the cradle in/out function
can still operate.
5. Move the cradle to the out limit position.
6. Verify that the Table can be lowered to the lowest position.
7. Repeat steps 1. through 3. with other tilt angles.

Wait more than five minutes following the last scan before performing the following
procedure.

5. Position the X-ray tube to the 3 o’clock position (as viewed from the Table) and switch OFF the service switch.
6. Turn OFF the OC power switch and then lock and tag-out the main system breaker. Then, remove the HV
connectors and verify the following:
• The oil in the HV wells is pure.
• The amount of the oil has not reduced, if reduced, replenish it with fresh oil (silicone oil).
• No air exists inside the tube. (Verify this by peeping, looking, through the window.)
7. Check the HV (high voltage) connectors for the following:
• No cracks exist on the candle stick surface.
• The connector pins are clean.
• The rubber packing is not damaged.

Check for overheat error by performing the following:
1. Switch OFF the “Rotate” switch at the Gantry rear base. (The other switches should be set to ON)
2. Remove the both maintenance covers.
3. Disconnect the rotor connector
4. Switch ON the “Rotate” switch at the Gantry rear base.
5. Try to perform a scan.
6. Verify that a scan can not be performed and that the “XG ERROR” message is reported on the CRT status
screen.

ADJUSTMENT Manual.

TASK DESCRIPTION
1. Preparation:
a. Remove the left maintenance cover from the Gantry.
b. Set the 42 cm Polypropylene Phantom to the phantom holder.
c. Move the cradle to position the phantom at the Detector window.
(This is to protect the Detector by reducing x-ray dose to it during the check procedure)
d. Perform Warm-up scans, if the x-ray tube is cold.
e. Wait five minutes or more following the last scan prior to proceeding to the next step.
2. Set the M5 Management dip switch to ON on the TGP Board.
(KV & MA display mode on Gantry Display)
3. Perform scans of KV - MA stations specified in Table 2-1.
Select 1 mm or any THICKNESS to allow the specified stations.
Verify that the KV and MA values displayed on the Gantry Display is within the following specifications:
KV:r5 kV
MA:r20 mA
(KV and MA values are displayed in real-time during an exposure, and ‘0’ is displayed after the exposure is
finished)
4. Set the M5 Management dip switch to OFF on the TGP Board.

Instruct the user to perform this procedure once per every 6 months.
Keep the Cleaning Tool in place that is free from dust and any external force.
1. Turn ON the Power Switch of the Operator Console.

2. Insert the Head Cleaning Tool into the MOD Cartridge Slot. It will be automatically loaded and clean the MOD
Head in the MOD Drive.
3. Approximately 10 second later, it will be automatically ejected.
