COMMITMENT is the willingness to give one’s time and energy in fulfillment of a promise.

Pentecost
– It commemorates the day when the Holy Spirit fell on the apostles and disciples of Christ as they
gathered in a room after the Ascension.
– It is the day on which the Church was started since the Spirit brings the Church into existence and
enlivens it. Thus, Pentecost is the Church’s birthday.
Why is Pentecost important to the Jewish people?
– It commemorates the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses on St. Sinai.
– In the Old Testament, the feast of Pentecost is also known as the feast of weeks, the feast of harvest,
and the day of first fruits.
What does Pentecost represent in the New Testament?
– Pentecost represents the fulfillment of Christ’s promise in the gospel of Luke. (Luke 24:46-49)
How did the Holy Spirit inspire the Apostles?
– When the Holy Spirit came, the apostles became brave and boldly proclaimed Jesus.
– Jesus gave them the power to speak in different tongues.
– The Holy Spirit also enabled the apostles to bring about fellowship instead of factions.
How does the Holy Spirit work in our lives?
– The Holy Spirit helps us to overcome our weaknesses.
– The Holy Spirit teaches us.
– The Holy Spirit intercedes for us through our prayer.
– The Holy Spirit tells us Jesus’ purpose for us.
– The Holy Spirit helps us to see the effects of sin in our lives.

Fortitude is the quality by which one does what is good and right even he/she faces difficulties and dangers
along the way.

What is the sacrament of confirmation?
 It is the sacrament conferred after Baptism.
 It strengthens the work of the Holy Spirit.
 It makes us profess our faith as strong and courageous Christians and soldiers of Christ.
Why do we anoint with chrism the person to be confirmed?
 Anointing with oil tells us that one completely shares in the mission of Jesus.
 Sacred chrism is olive oil mingled with balsam, and consecrated by the bishop on Holy Thursday.
What does confirmation bring to us?
 We become fully Catholic.
 We are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
 The imparting of the Spirit is given to us.
 We are strengthened in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
 We have a title to divine assistance for the rests of our lives.
 We are strengthened in our role as prophet, priest, and king.
 We are given a mission.
 We are given the strength to overcome the many temptations around us.
How is confirmation related to our mission as Christians?
 It moves us to share Jesus to our fellowmen.
 It reminds us of our mission to live not only for own selves but also to respond to the needs of our
fellowmen.

THE HOLY SPIRIT SUSTAINS THE CHRISTIAN MISSION


Courage is the strength of purpose to do one’s best to battle against what is evil and to fight always for what is
right, following God’s will.
What are the effects of the Sacrament of Confirmation?
1. It roots us more firmly as sons and daughters of God.
2. It unites us more firmly to Christ.
3. It binds us closely to the Church.
4. It strengthens the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
5. It gives us strength of the Holy Spirit to defend our faith by word and by deed.

What is expected of us as public witnesses of our faith?


1. To believe in Him
2. To be a witness to Him both in our words and in our actions
When were we asked to bear witness to Jesus?
 The Apostles received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.
 Our own Pentecost is the day of our confirmation.

How can you be a witness to your faith in Jesus Christ?


1. Talk to other people about what Jesus has done to you personally.
2. Know and share His Word.
3. One must be kind and have the ability to listen to others.
4. Call on the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

– To have the courage to bear witness to our faith is a challenge a Christian faces every single day.
– It is the duty of every confirmed Christian to be peacemakers, to be stewards of God’s creations, to
champion the rights of the least, the lost, and the last.
