V. RATIONALE

The Department of Education acknowledges the significance of Gender and

Development programs in producing good-willed, compassionate, and responsible
school personnel through realization of the ideals and the core values of the
Department. Thus, training program which promotes and widens the knowledge on
gender issues would make a difference on how one perceives his or her role as a
catalyst of learning.

The activity will help the school personnel deepen their understanding on the
contents of R.A. 9710 also known as the Magna Carta of Women and several topics
such as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 or
R.A. 9262 and Solo Parent Act of 2000 which will help the teaching and non-
teaching staff achieve the goal of promoting protection of women, promotion of the
rights of Filipino Women and eradicating discrimination and gender equality issues
to promote a toxic free future. This training program aims to provide outdoor
activities for school personnel that will help them manage stress; such activities
shall be associated with awareness of gender difference, giving them relaxation,
fun, and the resilience to hold up under pressure.

Thus, San Juan Elementary School proposes activities to be done during the
conduct of the training-workshop on GAD laws and concepts.
