SPEAKING TASK
MODULE 2 Giving a presentation to a small group
Unit 1

Objectives

• Can give the order of things using simple language (e.g. first, second, third).
• Can use simple present and present continuous tenses.

Speaking Task Description

You are going to give a short presentation about about your future profession.

This activity has an individual component, and it will be worth 5% of your final grade of the first
module. Individually, you will brainstorm about your topic, prepare and rehearse your
presentation, and present it to a small group of students. You have 2 minutes maximum to
present, so your contribution must be meaningful. Follow the steps below.

Step1: Prepare - Week 2

After brainstorming, plan your presentation. Fill in the following table with the relevant information
about your future profession.

Step 3: Rehearse and Present – Week 3

 Rehearse
This is the time when you practice your presentation. Practice your presentation as many times as
possible! Focus on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and proper eye contact. Also, you can
do the following:

• Practice in front of a mirror.


• Record yourself with your cellphone.
• Ask someone to listen to your presentation.

On the day of your presentation, you will present in small groups. You will have 2 minutes to
present to your small group and your teacher. T

Your presentation must include the information and organization from the table in step #2.

During your presentation, you should:

• have visual-aids (Photographs, Internet images, drawing, etc).
• talk to your audience (do NOT read from your notes).
• use body language.
