C. Appreciate the purpose of trekking and camping in people`s lives

Hiking Trekking and Camping
 Hiking – is an activity that involves a long energetic walk in a
natural environment on trails and footpaths.
- It can be done in a day or night.
 Trekking – involves a long vigorous hike in wild natural
environment for multiple days.
- It can be done of hiking trails.
 CAMPING
- Is an outdoor activity involving overnight stays away
from in a shelter such as tent or recreational vehicle.
Thomas Hiram Holding- considered as the father of modern camping.
- He was responsible for popularizing a different type of
camping in the early twentieth century.
- Founder of camping and caravanning club.
Different types of Camping
 Car camping – the campsites are accessed by car or RV.
Campers sleep in trailers so there is no need to pack a
light.
 Back packing- involves hiking a distance with all your
supplies in your backpack.
 Ultra-light – is similar with backpacking is a form of
backpacking that emphasizes lightweight gear and only
packing the absolute essentials.
 Canoe camping – it is a combination of canoeing and
camping. Canoe campers carry enough with them to travel
several days via canoe or boat.

Different types of Tents

 Pop up Tent – Round tent with a frame work that deploys


automatically.
 One person Tent – it is a small low roof ted tent with enough room
to accommodate one person.
 Dome Tent – semicircular tent that once pitched can be moved
without being taking down.

Two types of sleeping bags

 Mummy – it has part that covers the head and neck with an
opening for the face.
 Rectangular- Sleeping bag that spacious enough to give the body
room to move.

Three types of Camp sites


 Full service – sites offer electric hookups for RV’s, water and
amenities like flush toilets, dumping stations and sometimes
shower.
 Tent only – these camping sites do not allow RV’s or trailers.
 Primitive – site usually require hiking in from a distance, so you
must pack in all your supplies and no amenities are provided.

Activities should be done in camping:


- Cycling
- Fishing
- Play music
- Taking pictures
- Bon fire
- Swimming
