A Detailed Lesson Plan in

MAPEH 7
I. Objectives

At the end of the Lesson the students are able to:


a. explain the characteristics, signs and symptoms of eating disorders; and
b. discusses ways of preventing and controlling eating disorders.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Eating Disorders
Reference: Living with Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health ( pp.274-275)
Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint, Video Presentation

Before we start our lesson let’s have first our Father GOD be with us Today,

1. Motivation

Now let’s proceed to our lesson. “Yes Sir.”

“But before that, I am going to flash some


pictures, all you need to do is to describe what is
shown on the screen.

“Yes, Our Lesson for today is all about Eating


Disorders.”

But before that let me present to you the learning


competencies in this lesson.

Now let’s define what is Eating Disorder.

It is a type of mental health condition (Student will read.)


characterized by severe disturbances in eating
behaviors and related thoughts and emotions.

There are three types of eating disorder

1. Anorexia Nervosa
2. Bulimia Nervosa
3. Binge Eating Disorder

First, we have Anorexia Nervosa

Is an eating disorder characterized by self-


imposed starvation leading to excessive weight (Student will read)
loss.
If not treated earlier, those with anorexia
nervosa become malnourished.

The sign and symptoms of anorexia nervosa

-Dry Skin
-Fainting
-Brittle Hair
-Dehydration
-Loss of Body Fat
-Irregular Heart beat
-Loss of menstruation (for girls)

Prevention and intervention to avoid anorexia


nervosa
There is no way to prevent anorexia nervosa.
Early treatment is the best way to prevent
the disorder from progressing.

Moving on to the next eating disorders, we have


Bulimia Nervosa.

What is Bulimia Nervosa?

It is a disorder marked by out-of-control eating,
followed by vomiting to prevent the individual
from gaining weight.

Sign and symptoms of bulimia nervosa

• Open sores in the mouth due to frequent


vomiting
• Their throats are often red
• They have tooth decay
• Enlarge Stomach
Prevention and intervention to avoid bulimia

1. Avoid skipping meals


2. Eat more high-fiber food
3. Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet
4. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day and do
30 minutes exercises daily
Lastly, we have Binge Eating Disorder

Is characterized by compulsive eating. People who (Student will read)


indulge in compulsive eating consume a large
amount of food at one time but they do not
eliminate it.

Sign and symptoms of binged eating disorder

• Lack of control once one begins to eat


• Depression
• Grief
• Anxiety
Prevention and intervention to avoid binge
eating disorder

• Learn to manage stress in healthy way


• Take three regular meals and
choose healthy snacks
• Do some exercise
• Know your body
• Note the food you eat
• Stay away from temptation
