BEQ 300: Civil Engineering Construction Technology

ASSIGNMENT 2: 20%

1) INTRODUCTION:

This course covers on technology, construction process, construction methodology and

techniques for civil engineering works such as reclamation works, roadworks, rail tracks,
highways, drainage works, tunnelling, pipework, bridges, dams, ports and jetties.

2) LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Upon successful completion of the assignment, you will be able to:

CLO2 Understand the process in selecting the choice and design of civil engineering structure.
CLO3 Identify the temporary works required in relation to civil engineering structure.

3) TASKS:
Group Assignment

Students are required to answer all the questions below:

1. Explain the reasoning behind the selection process and the methodology used in
designing the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART Tunnel) in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
2. List and explain the temporary works required for the construction of the Stormwater
Management and Road Tunnel (SMART Tunnel) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, along with
their respective justifications.

TOTAL: 20 Marks
4) SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

• This assignment is a group work.

• Submit the hardcopy report (A4 size format).
• The front cover must include the university logo, name of faculty & school, name of
course & subject, the title of the assignment, name of students, and name of lecturer.
• Content of Report:
Your report should include the following outline structure:

2. Assignment brief
3. Rubric
4. Answer sheet (report)
5. References are compulsory and specified accordingly.
6. Appendix if applicable.
