basic principles for guidance of basic activities

experiments

is the process of using what you have {RESOURCES} , to do what you want to do
.... {GOALS}

is the process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling the activities of an


organization effectively and efficiently to achieve its goals

is getting work done through others (4 RESOURCES)

WHO IS A MANAGER
A manager is a person responsible for work performance of group members

Has formal authority to commit organizational resources

Different types of managers

The PROBLEM SOLVING Manager

Focuses on providing solution to every problem of the company; concentrates


on achieving the company goals

PROBLEM: He will always be on the look out for problems that he forgets
about other things in the office

The PITCHFORK Manager

threatens employees to work towards a goal; employs fear tactics and uses
iron hand to push employees for results to avoid consequences. Characterize
as TOUGH AND RUDE

The PONTIFICATING Manager

Neither follows and strategy nor prepare for any situation or task and usually
ends up with inconsistent results

The PRESUMPTUOUS Manager

Focus more on themselves than anything else; not a team player and usually
works for personal gain or interest

The PERFECT Manager

open to change and personal growth; he can be mechanical and may lack
interpersonal skills

The PASSIVE Manager

wants to please everyone and make the team members happy; being a crowd
pleaser becomes a hindrance because of his lack of drive and assertiveness to
manage a team.

ensures that performance conforms to plans. Requires managers to identify


any deviations from the strategies and methods in attaining the company's
objectives

TOP LEVEL MANAGER (EXECUTIVES)

are empowered to make major decisions; have extensive knowledge and must
be multi skilled and analytical

Must be aware of the business environment where the organization operates

Term C level managers refers to top level manager with "chief" in title

MIDDLE LEVEL MANAGERS

are layers between top- and first-level mnanagers. Assigned to supervise


specific units or departments; highlt specialized in managing the tasks and
operations of assigned units

They directly oversee employees or workers and are task with carrying out the
decisions communicated by the middle managers
