The place value is the position of each digit in a number.

The
place value of digits is determined as ones, tens, hundreds,
and thousands. (SULAT)

what is a digit? A digit is any of the numerals from 0 to 9,


especially when forming part of a number. (SCRIPT)

the place value of the digits of whole numbers are identified


starting with the right most digit. (SULAT)

for example: 375 we begin identifying the place value with the
digit 5, (SULAT)
