FASHION

Fashion is the way people dress in certain period of time. It is the way of self-expression.
People by wearing their cloths show their mood, interests, attitudes and status in society through
styles, colours, patterns, materials and accessories.

People have different attitudes to fashion. Some people do not care what they wear, another have
an excellent taste and are dressed perfectly, other people have no taste at all.

Clothing is connected with climate, weather and occasions, financial situations, mood…

In summer, we wear light and airy materials, such as cotton or silk. We wear short-sleeved shirts, T-
shirts, shorts, loose blouses, skirts sandals and slippers.

For swimming we wear a swimming costume, bikinis....

In winter we wear warmer materials like cotton, wool. Long sleeved T -shirts , shirts ,sweaters,
jumpers ,pullovers ,cardigans, trousers, jackets, anoraks, coats, gloves, scarves ,hats, caps and boots
are worn.

For special occasions such as balls and banquets women wear ball long dresses, shoes with high
heeled, accessories (jewellery, handbags...) Gentlemen wear a dark suit or tuxedo, a white shirt cuff
links, a single colour bow tie or a tie and dark shoes.

In some jobs people wear a special cloths or boots. The workwear, for ex. denims, white coats,
aprons... .People have to wear some protected accessories in some professions: protected gloves,
protected shield, glasses…

Another important part of our image is hair. Our hair is often dyed, highlighted or bleached.

We usually use light material such as cotton or silk.

We usually use warmer material such as wool and cotton or fur., leather.

How do we care about our clothes?

1. All clothes require special care if we want to wear them for a longer time.

2. We should follow carefully the washing and ironing instruction on the clothes labels.

3. Some clothes wash easily, others require dry-cleaning or must be washed only by hand.

4. If you wash your clothes in a washing machine on a high temperature, they can shrink or become
larger. White colour clothes should be washed on the temperature of 60 degrees of Celsius. Coloured
clothes should be washed at the temperature of 40 degrees of Celsius.
5. Greasy stains (mastné škvrny) can be washed with stain removers.

6. If you are not sure how to care about certain clothes, use services of a local laundrette.
