ARIEL S. CERVANTES and JOHNREY N. PIALAGO, (June, 2023) a
thesis entitled” GROWTH RESPONSE OF SUGARCANE (Saccharum
officinarum) VARIETY PHIL 99-1793 APPLIED WITH FERMENTED
PLANT JUICE (WATER SPINACH) AT DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS”

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the growth response of

Sugar Cane variety Phil 99-1793 applied with Fermented
Plant Juice at different concentrations. Specifically, it
aimed to determine the growth response of sugarcane
variety PHIL 99-1793 in terms of plant height, number of
tillers, number of internodes, length of internodes, and
diameter of internodes. The study was conducted at
Quinalumsan Demo Farm, Sagay City, Negros Occidental for
four months duration from November, 2022, to April, 2023.
The study was laid out in Randomized Complete Block
Design (RCBD) wherein four (4) treatments (treatment 0-
Urea – 22.08 g/treatment, treatment 1- 10 ml FPJ/liter,
treatment 2- 20 ml FPJ/liter, and treatment 3- 30 ml
FPJ/liter) were replicated three times for a total of 16
experimental units. Data gathered were analyzed using the
analysis of variance (ANOVA) for RCBD using the STAR
Software. The result of the analysis showed that there
was no significant difference on the response of the
sugarcane variety PHIL 99-1793 in terms of plant height,
number of tillers, number of internodes, length of
internodes, and diameter of internodes. Among other
treatments, t0 performs better in all parameters
observed. However, sugarcane plants applied with the
lowest concentration (10ml/L of water) of FPJ has higher
plant height, number of tillers and diameter of nodes
compared with the higher concentrations but not to a
greater extent. Based on the analysis, it is concluded
that application of FPJ in a higher concentration will
not affect on the growth of sugarcane plants.
