GRADE: 5 INCLUSIVE DATES: Oct. 2-6, 2023
CONTENT STANDARD:
The students demonstrate understanding of the meanings of words through word formation and ability
to differentiate denotative and connotative meanings, infer character traits, identify and analyze figures
of speech, con- struct coherent paragraphs, and express ideas using the different kinds of nouns,
pronouns, and verbs as he/she observes the basic rules in subject-verb agreement.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner makes a travelogue – a travel brochure that


communicates information, opinions, and ideas effectively to different audiences.

CULMINATING TASK: Travelogue

UNIT TOPIC: Inferring Character Traits through Words and Action

Objectives:
 Define the literary term 'character trait' and give examples
 Analyze characters in familiar text
 Infer character traits from the text

D. Group Activity: Charades; The class will be grouped into two, they are going to choose one player
each who’ll draws a slip from the box and act out the character trait shown using hand signals and
body motions but no spoken words. Players then try to guess the character trait.
DAY 2
Objectives:
 Identify the meaning of unfamiliar words using context clues.

A. Review: Inferring Character Traits through Words and Actions


B. Answer Uncover (p. 36). Complete the meaning of the underlined word in the sentence. Inside the oval,
write the synonym or antonym in the sentence that served as a context clue.
C. Read a Story: Children’s Prattle
1. Pre-reading Activities: Answer the motivation question.
MQ: Do you think it is right for children to brag about their parents’ achievements and status in life?

2. Post-reading activities: Answer the questions in Probe
D. Complete a Graphic Organizer: Answer Connect (p.39) Complete the graphic organizer by writing the
