Text Development. But first, let's review
the different types of sentences we
learned in the previous lesson. Can
anyone give me an example of a simple
sentence?"
"The dog barks."
"Good job. Now, let's move on to our
new lesson. Patterns of Text
Development refer to the different ways
that writers can organize and present
their ideas in a piece of writing."

“Narration - This pattern of


development arranges information in
the order in which it occurred or is
expected to occur. It is often used in
narrative writing or when discussing
historical events.”
“What is the main feature of Narration?”

“It tells a story or sequence of events.”


“How about the second one? Will you
read it?”

“Description - This pattern of


development provides a detailed
account of a person, place, or thing,
focusing on sensory details such as
sight, sound, taste, and touch. It is often
used in descriptive and narrative
writing to help readers visualize and
experience a particular setting or
character.”

“How do we describe something?”


“In describing, we use descriptive
words such as adverbs and adjectives.”

“How about the third one? Will you read


it?” “Definition: This pattern of
development provides a clear and
concise explanation of a specific term,
concept, or idea. It is often used in
academic writing to establish a
common understanding of a particular
topic.”

“I look it up my dictionary to have an

“I was trying to put on my shoes when

Description:
“The room is too white.”

Definition:
“Love is a mystery.”

E. Discussing new concepts and "Next, let's discuss the remaining three

Comparison and Contrast. Can anyone
give me an example of a problem-
solution text?"

"The problem is that there's too much


pollution in the ocean. The solution is
to stop throwing trash into the water."

"Excellent.”

“Let us begin with Cause and Effect.


Will anyone read its definition?”

“Cause and Effect - This pattern of


development explains the relationship
between a specific event or action and
its consequences. It is commonly used
in persuasive writing to explain the
reasons behind a particular viewpoint
or argument.”

“Will you give a sample sentence using


cause and effect pattern?” “’My mother woke up late, so we all
went to school late.’”

“How about the next one? Will you


read?” “Problem and Solution - This pattern
of development presents a problem or
issue, followed by a proposed solution.
It is commonly used in persuasive and
argumentative writing to propose
solutions to social or political issues.”

“Will you give a sample sentence using “’The teachers noticed learners have no
problem and solution pattern?” school supplies, so they did a
fundraising activity for them.’”

“Comparison and Contrast - This


“Finally, what is a Comparison and pattern of development explores the
Contrast Pattern?” similarities and differences between
two or more things. It is commonly
used in descriptive and expository
writing to help readers better
understand the characteristics and
features of different subjects.”

concepts and skills in daily living patterns of text development, how do you

use these patterns to organize my ideas
