d. Checking of Assignment
Do you have any assignments? Yes, teacher.
Okay, kindly collect John Lloyd.

e. Classroom rules
Alright, so before we proceed to our lesson
proper, we have 5 classroom rules that you
need to follow in our class.
1. Respect yourselves and to others.
2. Raise your right hand if you want to
say something.
3. Don’t make noise.
4. Listen attentively.
5. Don’t share your wrong answers.
Understand? Yes, Teacher.

f. Review
So let us now review our previous lesson.
What was our topic all about yesterday?
Yes, Elijah. “It was about different angles
(right, acute and obtuse
angle)”
Very good!
Now, can you give one example of those
angles that we tackled about yesterday?
Yes, Princess. Right angle teacher.
Perfectly!

Now, what is right angle?

Yes. Elijah? Right angle is equal to 90
Magneficient! degrees.

And what is right angle looks like?

Can you draw it in the chalkboard?
Yes, Majesmae. (The students do as told)
b. Establishing a B. Lesson Proper
purpose for the a. Drill
lesson “Guess me”
Identify the term referred to by each
statement.

1. _______are lines that do not intersect.

2. _______are lines that intersect and form a Answers:
right angle. Parallel lines
Perpendicular lines

(The teacher will flash the cards)

(The students raise the meaning)

b. Motivation
Class, I have here a pictures. I want you to
observe these pictures and describe it? Yes teacher.
Am I clear class?

c. Presenting c. Presentation
examples/Instances Now, class based on the pictures that you
of new lesson have seen can you say something on what
you have observed?

Yes, Princess. Students answers

Very good!
Another, yes, John Lloyd. Students answers
That’s right!

Yes, Rodi. Students answers

Precisely!

Based in the picture that you have seen what

do you think is our topic today?
Yes, Althea. I think teacher our topic today
is all about perpendicular and
parallel lines
Correct!

Class, our lesson for today is all about how to

draw parallel and perpendicular lines using a a. Identify parallel and
ruler and a set square. perpendicular lines;
Here are the objectives. b.Draw perpendicular and
parallel lines using a ruler and
a set square. ; and
C. Appreciate the importance
of the different lines in real-life
situations.
d. Discussing new d.Discussion
concepts and So now class we will talk about a line.
practicing new skills A line is a set of points that follows a straight
#1 path and extends indefinitely in both
directions. We use two distinct points to
name a line.

A B
Read as line AB In symbol AB
Now take a look at this picture.
Can you see this picture? What is this class?
Very good! Yes teacher, a house teacher.
Now class, Do you see lines in this picture? In
what parts of the house do you see lines? Yes teacher.
Do you think we can draw houses without All parts of the house teacher.
lines? No, teacher.
Are lines important? Why?
We see lines in most of the things around us.
We see different kinds of lines in almost The students answers vary
everything.

Parallel Lines
Let us look at this drawing of the fence.

The fence using horizontal and vertical lines.

The horizontal lines do not intersect even if
we extend them. Likewise,
the vertical lines do not intersect even if we
extend them. These lines are said to be
parallel lines.

Parallel lines are lines that do not intersect. (The students are listening)
Lines AB and CD below are parallel lines. They
will not intersect however long we extend
them to the left or to the right.

Parallel lines can be a pair of vertical,

horizontal and diagonal lines as long as they
are not meet to each other.

Horizontal lines

Vertical lines Diagonal lines

Let us now look at this drawing of the door of

the house.

It’s used horizontal and vertical lines to draw

the door. The horizontal lines intersect the
vertical lines.
What kind of angle is formed by one of the
horizontal lines and one of the vertical lines. If
you answered, “right angle”, you are correct.
Each pair of intersecting horizontal and
vertical lines in a door form a right angle.
Each of these pairs are then described as
perpendicular lines.

And so we say, “Perpendicular lines are lines (The students are listening)
that intersect and form a right angle”.

Lines EF and GH below intersect and form

right angles. They are therefore
perpendicular. The four small squares at the
corners tell us that the angles formed are
right angles or that the measures of the
angles is 90◦.

Now how can we measure 90 degrees using

set squares?
To measure:
(The teacher will draw in the board 90 degree
by using a set squares)

Now how can you draw a parallel lines using a

ruler and a set square?
Ruler- is used to measure length and draw
straight lines.
Set square- is a triangular device with one
angle of 90 degree, used for drawing straight
lines and angles.

STEPS:
1. Draw a straight line using a ruler
2. Align the edge of the triangle along the line
you drew
3. Then, align the ruler at the base of your
triangle. Mark the first line as line a.
4. Slide the triangle downward along the side
of the ruler and draw another line from the
edge of the triangle. Mark the second line as
line b.
5. Move your tool and see the parallel lines
you have drawn. Be sure not to move the
ruler.

How to draw perpendicular lines?

STEPS:
1. Draw a straight line using the ruler. Mark
the line as line a.
2. Align the base of the triangle along the line
you draw.
3. Align the ruler along the hypotenuse or the
side of the triangle opposite the right
4. Align the ruler along the hypotenuse or the
side of the right triangle opposite the right
angle. And draw a line along the side of a
triangle. Mark the line as line b.
(Students are listening)
So now, as you can see class we have drawn a
90 degree angle here in our perpendicular
triangle.

Are you following class?

What is It
How do the kinds of lines differ from one
another? Take a close look at the
examples. Yes teacher.
Parallel lines – lines that do not intersect. The
figures below show
parallel lines.

Perpendicular lines – lines that intersect and

form right angles (angles measuring 90
degrees). The pictures below show
perpendicular lines.

e. Discussing new Activity 1

concepts and Activity name: “Name Us”
practicing new skills Name the pair of lines being described by
#2 each picture.
I will group you into two groups the left side
will be the group 1 and the right side will be
the group 2. All you have to do is to identify
what kind of a line is in the picture. Each
group will give a materials where you write
on your answers. To answer, I will play music
and if the music stops the one who is holding
the materials will be the one to answer. The
group that have more answers will be the
winner.
Am I clear class? Yes, teacher.

Tell what kind of lines referred to in each

item?
Answers:
1. Perpendicular
2. Parallel lines
3. Perpendicular
4. Parallel
5. parallel

Good job everyone!

F. Developing mastery Activity 2 “Explore the Space”

(leads to formative Do the following activities, As I call your name
assessment) please stand and answer the following at the
board.

(The students do as told)

Look at the grid below and give at least 1 pair

of parallel lines, and 1 pair of perpendicular
lines.
Good job everyone!
G. Finding practical Activity 3 “Draw Me”
application of concepts and 1. Draw 2 parts of your house which show
skills in daily life parallel lines.
2. Draw 2 objects in your bag which show
perpendicular lines.
3. Draw 2 objects in the garden which show (The students do as told)
intersecting lines.
H. Making generalization Do you have any questions or clarifications?
and abstraction about the What is Parallel lines? None teacher.
lesson Yes, Chad. Parallel lines are lines that do
not intersect even when
extended in either direction.
Very good! 
What is perpendicular lines?
Yes, Maruja. Perpendicular lines are lines
Precisely. that intersect and form
a right angle.

Correct!
Let us give ourselves five yahoo claps.

Okay class, let me ask you this.

Why is it important to learn the different
kinds of lines? The students answer.
We see lines in most of the things around us.
We see different kinds of lines in almost
everything. For that, basically we are able to
determine what kind of a line that used in a
certain thing.
I. Evaluating Learning Evaluation:
