After spending many years nannying
to get myself though college, I landed
a job and starting working 9-5 (more
like 8-6) for a salary that was barely
enough. I thought this was what I was

I guess my phone heard me talking about it to my husband because I
started seeing videos on social media about "passive income" -
something I knew nothing about. After doing some research, it
became clear to me that I would never be able to get ahead or
better care for my family without finding a way to make passive
income. After spending six months searching, I finally found what I

Affiliate marketing is a marketing
arrangement in which YOU (the affiliate)
receive a commission for each visit,
signup, or sale you generate for a
company/brand.

 Steps to getting started:
DETERMINE YOUR NICHE
1. Perhaps no step is more important than
determining your niche. A niche is
basically a category that will determine
the type of product(s) you will promote
and your target audience. Choose a
niche you are passionate about. This will
allow you to enjoy your work, feel
comfortable promoting the product, and
build trust with your audience.

PICK YOUR PRODUCTS/PROGRAMS

2. Search Google for "your niche" +
"affiliate marketing". Look for something
you're passionate about, whether it's
something you personally already use or
just something you're interested in. Here
are a few things you should look for in a
program:
1. Offers both high and low ticket
items to sell.
2. Pays a minimum of 30% commission
on purchases from your link.
3. Has a cookie* duration of at least
30 days.

*A "cookie" tracks someone that used your link. Cookie duration

is how long you can potentially earn a commission after somebody
clicks your link, even if they don’t make a purchase right away.
 APPLY TO BE AN AFFILIATE
3. After finding a program using the
qualifications listed in the previous
step, it's time to start applying.

Most programs will approve you

immediately and will give you your
affiliate link (which tracks each
customer/sale YOU bring in so you will
get your commissions) right away.
However, some brands may take a few
days to approve you.

Keep in mind that most brands do NOT

require you to have a following to be
an affiliate for them. There are some
that do (usually bigger brands), but
don't let that discourage you. Just start
with promoting the ones that don't and
then reapply to the ones that do once
you build up your following.

In addition to doing a Google search, you can also

find products to promote on platforms such as
ClickBank, DigiStore24, JVZoo, Rakuten Marketing,
ShareASale, CJ Affiliate Network, and Amazon
Associates Program.
 CREATE CONTENT TO DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR LINKS
4. This is the fun part! Now that you've found your niche
and a product/service within your niche, it's time to
create engaging content to promote it! Figure out the
pain points people in your niche are experiencing and
how your product will solve or alleviate that problem.
Then, begin creating content that will draw in the
audience you're targeting with a simple call to action.
Remember, you're selling information, not a physical
product (although the product itself may be physical).

How to drive in traffic?

There are many ways to draw traffic to your
links. You can create content in the form of
blogs, videos, eBooks, social media
reels/posts, emails, how-to guides, product
comparisons/reviews, and more! Content can
be posted on TikTok, Instagram, FaceBook,
Pinterest, Youtube, or any other social media
site. This is the free method that will only cost
you your time. Some people run paid ads,
which are also effective, but not necessary to

Note: Traffic does NOT mean followers! You do not have to

have a lot of followers to promote your product. That's the
beauty of it. You can create a simple TikTok video that might
reach millions of people and result in a plethora of sales.

5. If, like me, you decide to pursue this as a full-fledged
business opportunity, you should seriously consider
starting your own business.
