-What can you say and what have you noticed about the song?
-What are the characteristics of a chain?
C. Presenting examples/Instances of the The learners will watch a short video clip about chain of infection.
new lesson
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing The students will be grouped into three (3). Each group will be given a word strips by the teacher. Using the word strips, they will identify the
new skills # 1 appropriate term being described in the chain.
1. The volunteer from each group will read about the definitions and then will put the word of the first in the link chain.
2. Another member of the group will explain in her / his own words the meaning of the chain.
3. The groups will do the same until the link chain is discussed.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing Discuss the following briefly using a Powerpoint Presentation;
new skills # 2 1. What are the types of pathogens?
2. Give an example of place where pathogens can thrive and reproduce.
3. The microorganisms may leave the reservoir through what?
4. Is everyone vulnerable to be the next host?

F. Developing mastery To fully understand how chain of infection occurs to our bodies, each group will make a presentation on how pathogens enter to a human body by
(leads to Formative Assessment 3) reading the story below.
Group 1: Skit
Group 2: Role Playing
Group 3: News Reporting

Peter joined the school fun run, his desire is to win so he didn't mind if he was stepping on water wherein his feet was soaked. Even if this
feels uncomfortable because his feet were very itchy, he only removed his socks that evening that’s why it was very smelly. He hanged it at the back
of the refrigerator to dry and immediately went to sleep because he was so tired. Early that morning, his brother John saw that sock hanged at the
back of the refrigerator and used it thinking that it was clean.
Each group will be guided by the following questions based on the story.
1. What types of pathogens can cause Peter’s diseases?
2. Where can these microorganisms thrive and reproduce?
3. Where is the reservoir of the microorganisms?
4. How did the microorganisms transfer to John’s body?
5. Where did the microorganisms enter John’s body?
6. Who is the next host?

abstractions about the lesson - What would be the best practices to prevent germ infection?
I. Evaluating learning Direction: Arrange the following process in chronological order. Write the letter of each correct entry.
The Chain of Infection
1. A. Passed through a direct or indirect mode of transmission.
2. B. Reservoir which can be a living or non-living object.
3. C. A susceptible host who has low immunity resistance.
4. D. Microorganism leaves the reservoir through a portal of exit.
5. E. Microorganism then enters the body through the portal of entry.

J. Additional activities for application or

remediation.
V. ASSIGNMENT (Optional) Read and study in advance about the different mode of transmission on page 326 on your book.
