Over the past year, I have had an amazing journey as a data analyst and researcher.

I have been able to

get impactful opportunities including the UNDRR Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (Dir) Project
in Africa where I was able to significantly contribute to the data collection process. The experience
enhanced my understanding of the disability community and this aligned with my passion of ensuring
there is inclusivity for all. Additionally, I successfully completed the economic Survey at Kenya national
Bureau of Statistics achieving a very high response rate coupled with quality data.

Looking forward, my long-term goals are in the area of research and data analytics. I intend to engage in
projects that are meaningful to my society especially in Klenya thus making positive impact the society.
What gives me the daily motivation in this filed is the challenge of coming up with insightful remarks
about the data. I am committed to leverage my capabilities to create a more informed world. Therefore, I
am putting a lot of effort so that I can be able to achieve this.

I am really passionate about mentorship and sharing my knowledge. As part of my long-term goals, I
intend to mentor new aspiring data analysts particularly those in communities where it is hard to get
resources. In picture myself taking a role of nurturing talent and making people have successful careers
in data analystics.

Throughout my fellowship period, I intend to get special skills that will go beyond what other
opportunities can give me. To be specific, I intend to get skills about research methodologies and
decision making in the real world. The hand on approach of the fellowship will enable me collaborate
with experts and interact with complex projects in my field. In coming up with large scale research
projects, I will able to get the opportunity to use the advanced tools that are critical in making decisions.

With the knowledge and skills, I will learn, I plan to make a major change in my community within the
next three to five years. To begin with, I plan to do community-based researchers and local initiatives
that will go a long way in solving the issues that the community is facing. By using the very advanced
statistical methods, I can be able to give recommendations backed up by research for programmed
improvements and policy changes.

I plan to use my skills to mentor the upcoming data analysts from the communities which are not
privileged enough. Personally, I believe in the transformative power of education and the power it has
top lower the poverty gap. I intend the next generation of data scientists to acquire a career in research
and data science.
Therefore, the fellowship will serve as a catalyst for me to grow in my profession and career at large
therefore brining positive change to my community.

In Kenya, the access to quality education is a very pressing need. Many children especially those in the
rural Kenya do not have access to proper and quality education. For this issue to be addressed, I actively
participated in initiatives that will go a long way in improving education. I have been able to collaborate
with organizations to organize seminars and workshops which are aimed at giving career guidance to the
youth. I also volunteer in giving private tutoring sessions to students who are about to sit for their
national examinations. I mentor and prepare them for the upcoming examinations. The private tutoring
is part of bridging the education inequality gap. I am striving to empower the young people to pursue
their dreams and overcome inequalities in education.

I have worked with people from different backgrounds. I believe that the different ideas and identities
leads to more creative solutions. In the past, I have encountered situations where conflicts arose in the
group, I was in. To resolve the conflict, I used the conflict resolution practices. I used active listening to
create a safe space for open dialogue. Everyone was encouraged to share their viewpoint and there was
a common goal which was arrived at the end of the day. Through this experience, I realized that
respecting the unique perspective and contribution of each person leads to a harmony in the work
environment. By using inclusive leadership, I have been able to get positive outcomes despite the initial
differences that were there. Therefore, embracing inclusion and diversity is essential for the
advancement of the organization and community at large.

During my experience as a data analyst, I faced a challenging situation where the project faced delays
due to unexpected factors beyond our control. The delay was caused by the unavailability of data source
and this led to a project delay. I showed resilience by adapting to new changes and circumstance and I
quickly identified an alternative data source thereby adjusting to the new project timelines to
accommodate the delay. Throughout the entire process, we maintained open communication wit the
stakeholders and kept them informed about the challenges and the revised plasm. The above experience
taught me the importance of adaptability and flexibility in leadership. Currently, I apply these lessons
ensuring that I remain resilient.

I am a committed researcher and data analyst with a very strong academic background in Economics and
Statistics. Currently, I am a freelance data analyst and I specialize in qualitative and quantitative data
analysis using the data analysis tools to get meaningful insights from the data. My passion lies in solving
the very complex problems in Kenya using detail driven data. In my community, I actively participate in
outreach activities which are in line with the community needs, my long-term goals include furthering
my career in research, continuing with mt education and solving the problems in the community. If
selected for the Professional development experience, I will use the opportunity to leverage my skills,
increase my network and make meaningful contributions to projects that are in line to my commitment
to inclusivity and human rights.

My goals for the Professional Development programmed lies both in my professional and personal
development. I am to increase my data analysis and research skills by having exposure to the advanced
methods and technologies which are present in the United States. I am eager to increase and develop
my leadership and management abilities allowing me to take a more important role in coordinating
research activities.

The program serves as a very special opportunity for networking and cultural exchange. I intend to have
long lasting connections with organizations and progressions in my field at the international level. The
global collaborations will enable me to bring diverse and innovative insights back in Kenya.

When back in Kenya, I plan to apply the skills I have learnt during the fellowship. I envision talking more
research projects that are relevant to the inclusive growth, gender equality and professional
development of Kenya. By using the methodologies and best practices I have learnt in the United States
of America, I intend to use the evidence-based policy-based recommendations that will bring positive
change in the community.

In conclusion, my goals for the Professional development program revolve around enhancing my skills
and increasing my international experience that will go a long way in elevating my contributions to
development initiatives and research in Kenya.
