SOP FOR FUMIGATION OF MICRO STERILITY TEST ROOM

Objective: To ensure the sterility of the Micro Sterility Test Room through fumigation.

Scope: This SOP applies to all personnel responsible for the fumigation of the Micro Sterility Test
Room.

Procedure:

Preparation for Fumigation:

a. Schedule fumigation during a period of low room activity.

b. Ensure all equipment and materials that should not be exposed to the fumigant are removed from
the room.

c. Seal any openings, including windows and doors, to prevent fumigant leakage.

Fumigant Preparation:

a. Prepare the fumigant solution as per manufacturer guidelines.

b. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling the fumigant.

Fumigation Process:

a. Place the fumigant container at a safe distance from the room entrance.

b. Open the container and release the fumigant into the room according to manufacturer
instructions.

c. Leave the room immediately and securely close the door.

Fumigation Duration:

a. Follow the recommended fumigation duration provided by the manufacturer.

b. Do not re-enter the room until the specified duration has passed.

Ventilation and Aeration:

a. After the recommended fumigation duration, thoroughly ventilate and aerate the room.

b. Use gas detection equipment to ensure safe levels of fumigant have dissipated before re-entry.
Post-Fumigation Inspection:

a. Visually inspect the room for any signs of residual fumigant or damage.

b. Ensure the room is safe for occupancy before resuming normal activities.

Documentation:

a. Maintain records of fumigation activities, including date, time, personnel involved, and any
deviations from the SOP.

b. Store records in a designated location for future reference.
