The first term is almost coming to an end, and I would like to take this opportunity as this term draws to a close to thank you for all the
support you have provided to each Grade 8 teacher so that we can fulfill our promise to nurture your child.

We are excited to present to you Issue 2 of our Newsletter. Midterm test preparation and ANBK written by 8A and 8D are included in this
issue. We hope that you will find our newsletter to be a helpful tool for finding out about upcoming activities.

We appreciate your continued assistance and cooperation in fostering a supportive learning environment for our students.

ANBK DI MENTARI UNTUK KEMAJUAN NEGERI NAVIGATING THE EXAM SEASON

Pada tanggal 18 dan 19 September 2023, sebanyak 45 siswa kelas 8 SMP Mentari
Intercultural School Jakarta telah mengikuti Asesmen Nasional Berbasis
Komputer, atau yang dikenal sebagai ANBK. Program ANBK adalah sebuah
asesmen atau penilaian penting dalam dunia pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk
mengukur standar pendidikan seluruh sekolah di Indonesia.
Sebelumnya, asesmen ini dikenal sebagai UNBK (Ujian Nasional Berbasis
Komputer), tetapi sekarang telah digantikan menjadi ANBK. Perbedaan antara
keduanya adalah bahwa UNBK lebih bersifat individual, di mana jika siswa tidak
lulus, mereka harus mengulang. Sedangkan ANBK merupakan asesmen yang
bertujuan untuk mengukur sifat keseluruhan sekolah, bukan hanya per individu.
Program ANBK memiliki tujuan utama yaitu menjadi dasar atau fondasi bagi
pengembangan kurikulum di Indonesia. Selain itu, data asesmen ANBK juga
dijadikan salah satu syarat untuk mendapatkan akreditasi. Jadi, jika sebuah
sekolah tidak mengikuti ANBK, surat izin mereka juga bisa terancam.\
Di sekolah Mentari Intercultural School Jakarta, partisipan ANBK diikuti oleh
siswa kelas 5, 8, dan 11. Setiap tingkat ini hanya melibatkan 45 siswa secara acak
atau random. Artinya, sekolah Mentari tidak memiliki wewenang dalam
menentukan siapa yang akan berpartisipasi. Proses seleksi partisipan ini sangat
transparan dan berfokus pada siswa yang merupakan warga negara Indonesia.
Program ANBK sendiri didasarkan pada pengetahuan siswa dari pembelajaran
literasi dan numerasi di sekolah. Literasi adalah tes kemampuan membaca dan
memahami informasi dari berbagai sumber. Sementara itu, numerasi berfokus
pada pemahaman matematika dan konsep sains yang akan digunakan dalam
asesmen. Selain itu, ada juga survei karakter yang merupakan bagian penting dari
ANBK. Survei karakter membantu mengukur aspek kepribadian siswa. Sejalan
dengan hal tersebut, siswa di sekolah Mentari telah memperoleh keterampilan
literasi dan numerasi sejak usia dini melalui kurikulum PYP (Program Years of
Primary). Partisipan ANBK juga diberi simulasi ANBK sebelum pelaksanaan ANBK
yang sebenarnya.
The school year has progressed, and we, the students, have successfully
tackled our first set of midterm exams after returning from a restful
summer break. The pressure was palpable, especially with the ANBK
occurring just before the exams. Let's take a look at how we managed to
overcome these challenges.
Mastering time management was the initial step in ensuring our organized
study schedule, given the volume of homework assignments. By creating
daily to-do lists that outlined our homework tasks and study subjects, we
significantly enhanced our learning efficiency. This approach was
particularly vital for us eighth-graders who often found ourselves
completing assignments just a day before they were due.
Another significant challenge we overcame was defeating procrastination.
Procrastination is a common pitfall that many of us face. It may make today
easier, but it undoubtedly makes tomorrow harder. The habit of telling
ourselves, "I'll just play on my phone for another 10 minutes," could easily
turn into a five-hour distraction. Procrastination was a silent killer among us
students, and we actively worked on avoiding it.
Ultimately, self-management was key. Success during the midterm season
boiled down to how well we managed our time, avoided procrastination, and
stayed disciplined. It was a matter of taking control of both our time and
ourselves.
As we reflect on our accomplishments during the midterm season, these tips
served as valuable tools that helped us navigate the challenges we faced. By
mastering time management, defeating procrastination, and honing our
self-management skills, we enhanced our chances of achieving academic
success during that demanding period.
