Factors affecting the rate of reaction:-

Factor 1) Temperature
Statement:
If temperature increases then the rate of the reaction
also increases

Observation table:-

Temperature Time taken

Hot 26 seconds

Normal 34 seconds

Cold 40 seconds

Graph:-
Scientific Reasoning:-
This is because as temperature increases the particles
of matter move faster so the reaction takes place
faster than the temperature of the water.

Factor 2) Surface Area

Statement:
If we increase the surface area of a solid reactant it
increases the reaction rate. By increasing surface
area, there are more collisions per unit of time.

Observation table:-
Element Zinc (Solid) Zinc (Powder)

Height 10 cm 9.3 cm

Graph:-

Scientific Reasoning:-
This is because as the surface area increases the rate
of reaction increases.

Factor 3) Concentration
Statement:
As the dilution increases the concentration of the
solution decreases and when the dilution decreases
the concentration of the solution increases.

Observation table:-
Na2S2O3 H2O Time

Batch 1 5 ml 10 6:11 min

Batch 2 10 ml 5 2:40 min

Batch 3 15 ml 0 1:41 min

Graph:-

Scientific reasoning:-
Conversely, the more reactant particles that collide
per unit time, the more often a reaction between
them can occur. Consequently, the reaction rate
usually increases as the concentration of the reactants
increases.

Factor 4) Catalyst
Statement:
If we add a catalyst to a solution or a substance the
catalyst makes it happen faster and quicker. Like

H202+MnO2→H2+O2+MnO2

Observation table:-

In empty beaker(1) Beaker with MnO2 (2)

Reaction No Yes
Yes/No

Graph:-
Scientific Reasoning:-
Using a catalyst we can speed up the rate of reaction
like to separate H202 it takes many years to separate
by itself and by adding MnO2 it happens in just
seconds.
