I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
a. Demonstrate understanding of the characteristics and existence of asteroids.
b. Compare and contrast asteroids to the other minor planets of the solar system.
c. Appreciate the importance of asteroids in our solar system.

3. Setting the classroom atmosphere

5. Drill: Let the students discuss about how are their perceptions about asteroids
6. Review: The teacher asks the learners about their previous lesson
7. Showing of the lesson objective
b. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
1. MOTIVATION
Divide the class into two groups, the teacher will give a sample picture of
asteroids in each group and ask the students to tell their ideas about the
picture.
2. PRESENTATION
The teacher will present a visual aid containing the pictures of solar system
including asteroids.
3. DISCUSSION
a. The teacher will explain and share information about asteroids
b. Cite and discuss the existence of asteroids in our solar system
c. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will ask question to the students about what they have learned:
1. How are asteroids being made?
2. Where can we locate asteroids?
3. How important are asteroids in our solar system?

d. APPLICATION
Conduct a group discussion
In your own opinion, why do we need to study asteroids?
IV. ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION
In a ½ sheet of paper answer Follow Up questions page 270, items 1, 3, and 6.

Read in advance Beyond the Solar System Pages 277-281.
