They are 2 types
1. command line interface (CLI): User needs to type the
instructions.
 Used by programmer, analyst or technician for developing new
software or removing errors.
2. graphical user interface (GUI): interact with computers using
icons. Most common technology used by GUI to interact is
WIMP(Windows icons menu and pointing device):use of mouse.
Now post-WIMP is used (touch screen).
 End user without much computer knowledge use it.

Advantages of CLI and GUI

Types of a computer:
1. PC / desktop computers: it is general purpose computer made up of
separate monitor, keyboard, mouse and processor unit.
Advantages of desktops over laptops:
a. Spare parts standardized and Low cost
b. Better specifications.
c. No issue of battery backup always connected to power.
d. As they are fixed less chance of damage
e. Internet access is more stable.
Dis Advantages of desktop over laptops:
a. Not portable
b. Maintenance of portable storage devices as pc not movable.
c. Lot of wires needed for setup.
