CHAPTER 1

The Problem and Its Scope

Introduction

How a student take seriously on their academic performance is really important,

establishes his or her level of academic success. The amount of knowledge and learning

techniques developed. When actively used by students, and contribute to determine how well

they perform academically.

The world and society are still developing, and evolve in a diverse of ways and ways

that one never anticipates as time goes on; the same lines. In the world of learning and

academic, one could say, where the key is thought to be knowledge need to open up a

number of chances for student among the goals of today's youthful. This study habits have

various of abilities, tactics, and techniques from students that will help them grab the

opportunity to perform academically to their potential. A student's life has always included

good study practice, daily experiences with learning. There are study habits might help a

student develop interest without feeling under time constraints or bothered. One of the most

vital are good study habits. the factors that influence a student's academic achievement

(Castillo, A. I. A., Allag, C. F. B., et. al.)

Having a study habits on academe life has great contribution on a student’s academic

performance, academic achievements, and good study patterns. Students can possibly adopt

positive attitude towards study, and zero percent chance of waste of time due to time

management and critical thinking. Positive thinking and being motivated students can lead

them to a successful academic performance and having some academic achievements.

Students that being unmotivated and has negative attitude towards study has negative effects
on their academic performance. These negative effects can affect their grades especially their

performance on their academe life.

Study habits has positive effects such as; high grades and scores, more achievements,

and parent’s expectations are reached. Though, it has negative effects on physical, mental,

and social health among students such as; lack of sleep due to overloaded activities, and

having no time with friends and family. Every student has different and unique study habits, it

may be good study habits that the students can benefit and has positive effect on their

academic performance, or it may be bad study habits that can lead them to failure and low

grade.
Review of Related Literature

According to Alavi and Toozandehjani (2017), it will eventually result in more

productive learning experiences if instructors are aware of the various learning style

preferences of the students taking applied sciences courses. They also conclude that

understanding students' learning styles can improve their learning while also promoting

students' self-actualization.

According to research by Ebele and Olofu (2017), there is a strong correlation

between students' academic achievement and their study habits. Looyeh and Fazelpou

(2017) evaluated the relationship between study habits and academic performance of medical

science students and discovered a substantial correlation between the two. Study habits and

academic accomplishment were examined by Siahi and Maiyo (2015), who discovered a

positive association between the two that was 0.66 in favor of study habits. The findings

suggested that if we want to increase performance, we must pay close attention to our study

habits. Additionally, Chilca's (2017) research on the relationship between academic

performance and study habits among Peruvian university students came to the conclusion

that study habits do affect academic performance.

Identifying students' learning preferences, according to Dalmolin, Mackeivicz,

Pochapski, Pilatti, and Santos (2018), will eventually enhance their educational experience.

The academic achievement of students is predicted by learning styles, according to earlier

research. When Jiraporncharoen, Angkurawaranon, Chockjamsai, Deesomchok, and

Euathrongchit (2015) researched undergraduate students' learning styles and academic

achievement, they discovered a strong correlation between the two. Consequently, several

productive study techniques can aid a student to get better. based on the study, as Fouche

(2017) cited him and said that it was a nice study. practices such as completing your
schoolwork and participating managing time, maintaining concentration, and working hard has

a very positive impact. association with how well they perform in school.

Okado, Kida, and Sakai (2018) found a high association between student habits and

academic outcomes. Their research suggested that the study patterns are the explanation for

achieving academic performance. According to Ebele and Olofu (2017), the research patterns

are the way one learns. After having healthy academic habits, a student will not be able to

excel in education. It is stated that academic success is dependent on the student's study

habits. Also, J.P. Fouche (2017) observed that healthy research patterns, such as task, class

attendance, time control, still concentration, and hard work, demonstrated a strong

association with academic success. Generally, it indicates that appropriate study patterns and

behaviors may help students enhance their academic success to be more effective. It also

shows that lousy study habits have a significant negative relationship with the students'

academic performance, the opposite of the factors mentioned above of good study habits (J.P

Fouche, 2017). Furthermore, the citizens' quality depends on the quality of their education,

study habits, and study attitudes of the learning students. The quality of education is seen

through academic performance, which results from the students' study habits and study

attitudes. (Priya & Dairiti, 2015)

Kida, Sakai, and Okado (2018) discovered a strong correlation between student

behaviors also academic results. Their analysis indicated that the study methods are the

cause of obtaining success in school. Ebele and Olofu (2017) claim that the study Learning

happens through patterns. following having Unless a student has good study habits, they to

perform well in school. There is a claim that scholarly Success depends on how well a student

studies. habits. Additionally, J.P. Fouche (2017) observed that appropriate research

methodologies, such as task, attendance in class, time management, and still concentration

and diligence showed a high correlation with academic achievement. In general, it suggests
that the right investigation is underway. Students may benefit from patterns and habits

increase the level of their academic accomplishment effective. It also demonstrates that bad
