BUSINESS PLAN FOR CYNTHIA BAKERY
Business Description
Bread as we know is a food for all, it's eaten in homes not not only for breakfast.
Bakery is a place where all food made with flour such as bread, cookies, cakes, etc
are produced. It is estimated that bread is the second most consumed snack and due
to the high demand of bread by consumers, starting a bread bakery business in Nigeria
can be very lucrative..
You would agree with me that the success of such business rests mainly on several
factors which the owner of the bakery would carefully plan and implement from the
beginning of setting up the bread bakery.
Bread is one of the cheapest food you can buy, it is regarded as a food for the masses
and this has tripled the demand for bread over the years making bread bakery
business a very profitable business in Nigeria
One good thing about bakery business is that you would always make sales because
people are always looking for bread to eat, however the success of the bakery
business depends solely on the skill and experience you have and that’s why you must
get a good and well written bread bakery business plan to help you with this project.
The quality of bread you want to produce will be dependent on the kind of bakery you
want to have and this depends also on your budget, skills, resources etc.

Executive Summary
Cynthia Bakery is a new company specializing in different varieties of bakery
products. Over the years there has been a consistent demand for bakery products.
This can be explained to a large degree by the fact that bread makes up a significant
composition of food taken by low, middle and high income earners in Nigeria. Bread is
fast and suitable food based on wheat. What was once a product of an artisanal and
unpackaged production process has transformed into a technological process that
results in varieties of packaged product. This is very positive for consumers as well as
bakeries and confectionaries such as Cindy's that specialize in these products.

General Bread making Process For Cynthia Bakery

1. Mixing and Kneading: The first step in the breadmaking process is to mix the
ingredients together. This typically involves combining flour, water, yeast, salt, and
any other desired ingredients. The mixture is then kneaded to develop the gluten in
the flour, which helps give the bread its structure and texture.
2. Fermentation: After the dough is mixed and kneaded, it is left to ferment. This
process allows the yeast in the dough to convert sugars into carbon dioxide gas, which
causes the dough to rise. Fermentation also adds flavor and enhances the texture of
the bread.
3. Shaping: Once the dough has fermented, it is divided and shaped into individual
bread loaves or rolls. This can be done by hand or by using specialized equipment.
The dough is shaped carefully to ensure even baking and consistent appearance.
4. Proofing: After shaping, the dough is placed in a warm, humid environment to
undergo a secondary fermentation known as proofing. This allows the dough to rise
further and develops the flavor and texture of the bread. The length of proofing will
depend on the type of bread being made.
5. Baking: Once the dough has proofed, it is transferred to an oven for baking. The
bread is baked at a high temperature until it reaches an internal temperature of
around 190-210°C (375-410°F). This process further develops the flavor, creates a
crust on the outside, and ensures the bread is fully cooked.
6. Cooling and Packaging: After baking, the bread is removed from the oven and left
to cool. Once cooled, it can be packaged in suitable containers for distribution and
sale. This may include wrapping individual loaves or placing multiple loaves in a bag
or box.
7. Quality Control: Throughout the entire manufacturing process, quality control
measures should be in place to ensure the bread meets the desired standards. This
can include regular testing of ingredients, monitoring fermentation times, and visual
inspections of the final product.
8. Distribution: Once the bread has been packaged, it is ready for distribution to
customers. This may involve selling directly from the bakery, supplying to local stores
or supermarkets, or even offering delivery services to customers.

4
9. Inventory Management: A crucial aspect of running a breadmaking business is
managing inventory. This involves tracking ingredients, finished products, and
monitoring sales to ensure an appropriate supply of bread is available to meet
customer demand.
10. Sanitation and Hygiene: Maintaining a clean and hygienic manufacturing
environment is essential to prevent contamination and ensure the safety of the bread.
Regular cleaning procedures should be followed, and staff should be trained in food
safety practices.
