for their money and risk.

III. Industry Analysis

- The bakery industry is a huge business that caters to people's weaknesses for tasty breads, cakes, pies and sweet rolls.
According to the American Baker’s Association, bakery products make up 2.1 percent of the gross domestic product of
the United States. That's a lot of people eating bread. KD’s Bakery competes in the Food Services Industry. In addition
to competing with other organic and non-wheat bakeries, it competes with all restaurants, delis, bakeries and
supermarkets for a share of its customers’ food dollar. KD’s Bakery is most concerned with competitors who
differentiate their products and services with a healthy, organic focus. Because this group is so large, KD’s Bakery has
chosen to limit its analysis to other gluten-free bakeries.

IV. Costumer Analysis

- Celebrators and Soccer Moms. The groups represent people sharing similar behavioral patterns and reasons for supporting
KD’s Bakery These groups purchase either pre-made or made-to-order products. Celebrators are people that have
reasons to do just that, celebrate! Birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, Valentine's Day, and Christmas are just a
few of the many holidays or special occasions that families and loved ones choose to celebrate with KD’s Bakery.
This market encompasses a variety of people including the young, middle aged, and old, and both men and women.
Soccer Moms encompasses not just moms, but all family members. KD’s bakery serves as a place where families
feel both welcome and comfortable. Kids come to enjoy with after school milk and cookies while Mom treats herself
to a more elegant dessert. Or "Moms" can meet up with friends to enjoy a baked good and enjoy relaxation in the
midst of a busy day. Either way, these Moms wish to expose their children to the homemade treats they had growing
up.
V. Competitive Analysis • Direct & Indirect Competitors

- The following prominent bakery are located within a 15-mile radius of KD’s Bakery, thus providing either direct or
indirect competition for customers:

Great Harvest Bread Company

Strengths: Makes spelt bread, muffins and cookies every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Well established bakery in town. Sells breads in local grocery stores.

Weaknesses: Does not provide a wide selection of non-wheat goods. Furthermore the texture and flavor
of their spelt goods is very dense and flavorless. They use whole spelt bread which makes a denser, crumby
consistency bread. We use white spelt in our spelt breads and other goods which has a texture and flavor like
wheat.

The Sweet Life Patisserie

Strengths: Makes spelt bread, muffins and brownies every day. Will make custom-ordered non-gluten
cakes.

Weaknesses: Does not produce a wide selection or large quantity of non-wheat goods. Their main focus
is wheat goods.

VI. Marketing Plan

The KD’s Bakery Brand

The KD’s Bakery brand will focus on the Company’s unique value proposition:
- Offering extensive menu options and menu customization for breakfast, lunch, dinner
- Serving high quality food with sophisticated servers
- Providing excellent customer service Promotions Strategy
- KD’s Bakery expects its target market to be individuals working and/or living within a 15-mile radius of its facility. The
Company’s promotions strategy to reach these individuals includes: Word of mouth and public perception are
immensely important in both aspects of the business. First, customers must understand that our products are made with
quality ingredients and thus taste better than many of our competitors. The word of mouth will be created when someone
experiences for example, a cake at a party. The cake will be enjoyed by many and thus the word-of-mouth seed for the
bakery aspect of the portion will be created. Word of mouth for the classes will be spread by people that had previously
taken a class. A well laid out and user-friendly web page is important for the growth of KD’s Bakery. The site will
include detailed descriptions of the products, photos of goods, a description of the company and its philosophy, and
contact information to raise awareness of KD’s Bakery. KD’s Bakery will advertise in cooperation with other businesses.
In doing so, we will recommend our partnering businesses to customers and vice versa. Specifically, we will partner
with wedding planners, photographers, and caters in the bridal industry where the profit margins are high. Our wholesale
customers will be promoting and advertising our product brand to develop further business for themselves. The
advertisement will occur in their store through their menu, display case, KD’s Bakery logo, etc. Also, when our
wholesale customers advertise publicly, it is to their advantage and ours to mention that they sell KD’s Bakery products.
Pricing Strategy
- Due to the high quality of ingredients, made from scratch products, and carefully and at times customized decorated
goods, the pricing at KD’s pricing will be on the higher than that of the typical grocery store bakery, but lower than
Great Harvest Bread Company. Customers will feel they receive great value because of the high amount of service
they receive and customization they are allowed. Pricing will be higher than The Sweet Life Patisserie for this reason.
VII. Operations Plan
-
We are provided with a unique opportunity regarding the business site.
In order to execute on KD’s Bakery business model, the Company needs to perform many functions including
-
Administrative, Kitchen and Event Functions. If the building was furnished, we will start as soon as possible.
VIII. Management Team Management Team Members

- KD’s Bakery is led by KaY who has been in the bakery business for 20 years.
Personnel Plan

- Once the bakery becomes established and the cash flow is steady, we would like to hire one person for counter
help and another assistant baker. The table below illustrates the needs of the current employees, plus the
integration of two more employees within three months of operation. The new hiring’s will coincide with
the opening of a lunch menu and coffee bar which will most certainly require more help.

Personnel Plan
KAY Head Baker
2 Part timers
Full timer
Assistant Baker
Bookkepper

IX. Financial Plan Revenue and Cost Drivers

- KD’s revenues will come from off-premises catering primarily and secondarily from event planning and design
services. The major costs for the company will be food production costs and salaries of the staff. In the initial years,
the company’s marketing spend will be high, as it establishes itself in the market. Since our products are ones that help
contribute and maintain good health, we believe that people will continue to buy our products over traditional wheat
bread. We are operating in a niche market, and in addition, the price of our breads and sweets although slightly higher
than traditional bakeries they are not positioned as expensive, luxury items.

Capital Requirements and Use of Funds

- KD’s Bakery is seeking a total funding of five hundred thousand to a million pesos to launch its bakery business. The
capital will be used for funding capital expenditures, manpower costs, marketing expenses and working capital.
Specifically, these funds will be used as follows:
Location design/build: approximately 1 ½ hectares
Working capital to pay for marketing, salaries, and lease costs KD’s Bakery reaches break-even.
