Read the instruction in each number carefully, then answer the question correctly!
1. Deixis Analysis: determine which is person, spatial, or temporal deixis that is being
the focus of each sentence below! Look at the example (a), then do it like the sample
question and answer!
a. Ex: “We clean up after ourselves around here”. Answer: the word “we” is a
person deixis. It means that the sentence focuses on who is doing something.
b. “Free coffee tomorrow”
c. “Put it there”
d. “Maimunah visited her grandmother yesterday”
e. “The day after tomorrow will be my special moment in my life”
2. According to Yule, reference in pragmatics is an act in which a speaker, or a writer,
uses linguistic forms to enable a listener, or reader, to identify something. The sample
expression is “Can I borrow your George Yule?” that means someone wants to
borrow a book that is written by George Yule, not physically wants George Yule as a
person/human. Thus, what are the types of reference in Pragmatics? Mention min. two
types, then explain the types that you remember!
3. Presupposition (p) Analysis: look at (a) as the sample question and answer, then do it
the same for the rest sentences!
a. Example: “I dreamed that I was a president in this country”
p>> I was not a leader of this country, but I can be a president one day
b. “Mary’s brother bought three horses”

c. “Only two waitresses are serving the customer right now.”
