In the year 2009 trip to Huaraz was a fascinating experience. Close to the main
square there is a lot of commerce and gastronomy. I from ica came very badly
from the stomach so I decided to look for one of the many restaurants that are in
the area, very delicious and also economic
I knew the most touristic places of that city among them:
Chavin
The temple and fortress built 800 years BC offers a unique opportunity to walk
through an extensive labyrinth composed of tunnels and culverts, heritage of the
Chavín Culture. This culture extended its religion based on a feline deity
throughout the Peruvian north.
Callejón de Huaylas
This valley located below the Cordillera Blanca with picturesque towns and cities
located north of Huaraz, which are the starting point for hiking, mountain biking
and mountaineering.
Carhuaz
Located at 2,650 m.s. It is the starting point for the route to the Ulta Valley,
standing out in the Cordillera Blanca. Another popular walk from Huaraz includes
routes to the thermal baths 7 km east, near the town of Hualcan.
Yungay
At 2,237 m.s. It was rebuilt after the earthquake that occurred on May 31, 1970,
which caused an avalanche of ice and rocks from the west side of the Huacaran,
destroying the city and burying it and killing more than 20,000 inhabitants.
A day hike to the Atma viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of the Huascarán
and Huandoy mountains, as well as the holy valley. It is from this place that
access to the Yanganuco lagoon, one of the most important destinations of the
Cordillera Blanca and also famous for hiking area. You can also access the
Llanganuco circuit to Santa Cruz, which usually takes 3 to 5 days.
Caraz
At 2270 m.s., it is one of the few villages in the area that survived the complete
devastation of the 1970 earthquake and retains its original Spanish colonial
architecture and layout. It is usually the base for walks to the north side of
Alpamayo, known by many as the most beautiful mountain in the world.
Valley of the Pastoruri
It offers visitors a place to see lakes, glaciers and the famous Andina Puya
Raimondi plant, the world's largest bromeliad plant, which can grow up to 12
meters high and an incredible one hundred years of life.
This trip was for a week and it was unforgettable to know the countries of my
