Case # 10: “He does, I do”

A good leader is a good follower, a belief that I know all of us are familiar
with. Yes, indeed it is true that the true essence of being a good leader is not just
someone who tells you to do things rather tells you how to do things for instance.
He is someone who knows to follow rules and regulations much more than anyone
else. And even if others would fail to do so, he is the one that sticks to it and obey
without any questions at all.

The director should have been careful of his actions. He is not actually
entitled of wasting the government’s resources just because he is on the higher
position. He should not act like an egoistic person. The mere fact that he is the boss,
he should have handled the situation in a more professional manner. He should
show his subordinates that he is worthy of the position and he is true to his
commitment of public service. Surely he started from the bottom but being on the
top gives him the privilege to belittle and laugh on his people. He should always
consider the fact that they are still in the government their top priority should be for
the welfare of the public.

Roy, on the other hand, should not show tardiness and should find ways to
provide solution to his problem. It is much better if he moves in to the area close to
their office. He could save time from commuting and save his present problem.
Aside from raining questions of having unfairness in their office, he should show his
professionalism when it comes to this matter. But because of this behavior of his
boss, he could open the minds of the employees of the anomalies going on. It is
indeed an eye opener for the public, the abusive actions of those in the higher
position is not acceptable.

It is much likely a matter of self-discipline. If we want others not to criticize

us, we should behave accordingly. The rules and regulations impose are actually for
the lower and higher ranking employees and officials to follow. There are no
exemptions to the rules. It is given for peace and harmony to reign.
