1.0 SCOPE

1.1 This procedure identifies operational tactics for rescue.

2.0 MAJOR ACCIDENT, INCIDENT OR HAZARD

MUST BE TRAINED IN THE PROPER PPE FOR EACH


OPERATOR SAFETY
PRODUCT TO BE EXPOSED TO

MAJOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENSURE DIKE DRAIN VALVES AND CONTAINMENT


INCIDENT AREA VALVES ARE CLOSED DURING PROCEDURE

3.0 PROCEDURE FOR RESCUE

3.1 Sound alarm


3.2 Security Communicate where the problem is located
3.3 Call 911
3.4 Advise 911 to the type of incident
3.5 Establish Incident Command for all incidents.
3.6 Confined space – Fire Department and EMS
3.7 Fall From Heights – Fire Department and EMS

4.0 PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITES

4.1 Contact Incident Commander for Instructions and tasks


4.2 ERT responds to the location of the situation review scene Safety.
4.3 Confined Space
4.3.1 Insure All Lock Outs are in place
4.3.2 Shut down any work in area
4.3.3 Determine the situation and Safe Entry
4.3.4 Sample atmosphere
4.3.5 At all cost the first attempt at recovery must be from
outside the C.S., last attempt would be to enter.
4.3.6 Don Breathing Apparatus
4.3.7 Attach Life Line
4.3.8 Take one additional Breathing apparatus into C.S. for
Victim
4.3.9 Flash Lights
4.3.10 Make entry into tank
4.3.11 Work In pairs
4.3.12 Assist FD keep and I.C. inform of changing conditions.
4.3.13 Make sure all personnel are accounted for at all times.

4.4 Falling from Heights

4.4.1 Immediately ensure Scene Safety – Power lines or other hazards are
secured.
4.4.2 If needed communicate equipment that can be brought tothe area to aid
in the rescue, GOTCHA system, or 8’ ladder, telescoping lift or etc.
4.4.3 Work in pairs and designate someone to communicate with the I.C.
4.4.4 Safely recover individual if hanging by a harness, or make individual
comfortable while waiting on the ERT.
4.4.5 Never move an individual that has fallen and do not let them get up
unless they have been medically checked or if they are in danger.
4.4.6 If waiting on ERT and it is possible you can start First Aid ABC’s, and
maintain communication with the individual until ERT arrives.
