To create your project you need the following materials:

1. Polyester cord with the core 5 mm - 320-340 yds (300-320 mts).

2. Hook No.7-8 mm (I used No.7)

3. Scissors

4. Markers - 2 pcs.

Quick reminder and abbreviations of the stitches:

 ● CH - chain stitch
 ● SL ST - slip stitch
 ● SC - single crochet
 ● INC - increase (work 2 SC into the same stitch to make an increase)
 ● BLO - back loop only
 ● ST - stitch

Approximate finished size for rope bag is:

 Width: 20 ½ ” (52 cm)
 Height: 15 ½ ” (40 cm)
 Handle length: 16 ½ ” (42 cm)

GUAGE: 4” x 4” = 8.8 sts x 8 rows ( 10 cm x 10 cm8.8 sts x 8 rows).

 So let’s get it started!
Make a chain of 21 CH (pic.1).

Pic.1

ROUND 1: Insert the hook into the second stitch from it (see red arrow on pic.2) and
work 2 SC into this loop.

Pic.2

Place the marker into the first stitch like on picture 3.

Work 18 SC along the chain.

3
Pic.3

Crochet 3 SC into the last stitch of chain (see red arrow on pic.4) and place marker into the
first SC of three. Continue this round with 18 SC.

Pic.4

ROUND 2:

Starting from the ROUND 2 work single crochets in the back loops only (BLO) -
the loops further away from you. It leaves the front loops untouched and creates a
beautiful pattern.

Scheme is: *INC 3, SC 18* repeat 2 times (48 STs)

4
It means: work 2 SC into each of the first 3
stitches (pic.5). Then crochet 18 SC along.

Pic.5

Repeat the same starting from the second marker (pic.6, pic.7).

Pic.6

Pic.7

ROUND 3: *(INC 1, SC 1) rep. 3 times; SC 18* repeat 2 times (54 STs)

Scheme of increasing on pic.8.

V - INC

I - SC

Pic.8

ROUND 4: *(INC 1, SC 2) rep. 3 times; SC 18* repeat 2 times (60 STs)

ROUND 5: *(INC 1, SC 3) rep. 3 times; SC 18* repeat 2 times (66 STs)

ROUND 6: *(INC 1, SC 4) rep.t 3 times; SC 18* repeat 2 times (72 STs)

Picture 9 - six rows of oval bottom.

Pic.9

Starting from ROUND 7 till ROUND 11 we will increase each row on 4 stitches (not 6
ST as before). This will form a neat oval.

ROUND 7: *SC 5, INC 1, SC 6, INC 1, SC 23* rep. 2 times (76 STs)

ROUND 8: *SC 5, INC 1, SC 8, INC 1, SC 23* rep. 2 times (80 STs)

6
ROUND 9: *SC 5, INC 1, SC 10, INC 1, SC 23* rep. 2 times (84 STs)

ROUND 10: *SC 5, INC 1, SC 12, INC 1, SC 23* rep. 2 times (88 STs)

ROUND 11: *SC 5, INC 1, SC 14, INC 1, SC 23* rep. 2 times (92 STs)

ROUND 12-32: SC 92 (92 STs).

Bag “body” is ready (pic.10).

HANDLES

Crochet 28 SC starting from the first market. Move the marker there.

And it will be a new start point for making bag handles. Handles crocheting consists
of 4 rows.

ROW 1: SL ST in BLO around (92 STs)

Work this round by slip stitches in the

back loop only (pic. 11).

Pic.11

ROW 2: *SC 1, CH 42, skip 16 STs along the bag top, SC, SL ST in the BLO 28*
rep. 2 times (pic.12).

Note! work single

crochets under 2
loops of slip stitches.

To make
longer/shorter
handles please work
more/less chain
stitches in ROW 2.

Pic.12

8
ROW 3: *SC 43, SL ST in BLO 27* rep. 2 times

Life hack! to get a smooth joint of

handles and bag “body” I
recommend to skip one stitch on the
left side. And work 27 SL ST
(instead of 28 SL ST) starting from
the 2nd stitch from the hook (see
red arrow on pic. 13).

Pic. 13

ROW 4: Work SL ST around (pic.14).

Pic.14 Pic. 15

Break the rope, fasten off and hide the tail.

To make the end of crocheting invisible follow instructions on picture 15.
