Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Gender Justice Technical Lead


(Nairobi Based for Kenyans/ Home -Based for non-Kenyans)

Faith to Action Network (https://faithtoactionetwork.org/ ) is a global interfaith network of more


than 100 Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Confucian, Hindu and Muslim faith organizations; we focus on
issues that faith actors are grappling with, including sexual and reproductive health and family
planning; gender equality and women’s rights; pluralism and understanding.

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team in the role of Sexual
Reproductive Health Rights and Gender Justice Technical Lead.

Title of Position: Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Gender Justice Technical Lead
Reports to: Head of Programs
Direct Reports: SRHR and Gender Justice Technical Coordinator

Purpose of the role:


As the Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Gender Justice Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal
role in providing technical expertise and strategic leadership, driving our vision for family health and
well-being, women’s rights, and gender justice. You will be responsible for leading the development,
implementation, and monitoring of our SRHR and Gender Justice programs, while fostering strong
partnerships and representing our faith-based approach at various national and international
platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities


Provide technical expertise and strategic leadership on SRHR and Gender Justice

• Research and share current and emerging approaches in SRHR and Gender Justice to inform
organizational advocacy strategies.
• Lead and provide technical guidance in SRHR and Gender Justice programming, contributing
to thought leadership through the development of position papers, policy briefs, and concept
notes.
• Develop and oversee organizational strategies for SRHR and Gender Justice, setting and
being accountable for annual objectives and quality standards.
• Lead the design and implementation of innovative strategies and methodologies in SRHR
and Gender Justice.
• Provide technical oversight on the development of theory of change, models,
methodologies, tools, research, and approaches for network secretariat, members, and
partners in new areas of work in SRHR/Gender Justice.
• Establish the network's global technical leadership in SRHR/Gender Justice by leading the
design and implementation of effective technical assistance strategies.
• Contribute proactively to national and international SRHR/FP advocacy by participating in
advocacy processes and providing technical support to Faith to Action Network's advocacy
team, fostering global discussions and thought leadership.
Project Management including Monitoring, Impact and Learning:
• Ensure the alignment of SRHR and Gender justice projects with the organization's
overarching strategy.
• Develop and monitor detailed implementation work plans and project budgets, ensuring
adherence to donor requirements.
• Monitor project progress and analyze data to identify deviations from planned objectives,
activities, and expenditures, taking corrective action as needed.
• Coordinate and conduct project assessments, outcome harvesting, and evaluations,
including baselines and end lines studies.
• Oversee sub-grantees, contractors, and champions, ensuring adherence to contractual
requirements and performance standards.
• Lead knowledge management efforts by documenting successful SRHR/Gender Justice
interventions, offering quarterly recommendations for program improvement and resource
mobilization.
• Regularly produce written materials showcasing best practices, innovative tools, and
methodologies from projects and partners.
• Generate and disseminate external relations and communications content for increased
organizational visibility and the showcasing of results.
• Facilitate the generation and dissemination of SRHR/Gender Justice technical knowledge
through diverse knowledge products, ensuring effective technical, advocacy, and
communication activities.

Partnerships, Advocacy, and External Representation:


• Identifying and engaging strategic partners and stakeholders.
• Designing advocacy initiatives in collaboration with partners and members.
• Mapping out engagement opportunities and offering technical assistance to members.
• Supporting advocacy and communication on SRHR/Gender Justice topics.
• Representing Faith to Action Network in advocacy spaces, emphasizing critical issues.
• Active participation in project governance and technical working groups.
• Managing substantive technical collaborations and alliances.
• Establishing and maintaining partnerships in the SRHR/Gender Justice sector to enhance
external influence.
• Strengthening linkages and collaboration among different departments and units within the
secretariat.
Network Coordination and Capacity Development:
• Foster a strong learning and knowledge-sharing community among network members and
partners in SRHR and Gender justice.
• Collaborate with international SRHR and Gender justice partners and coordinate capacity
development activities.

Essential experience, Skills and Knowledge


• Academic Qualifications & Certifications: Masters in any of the following areas:
Public health, Gender studies, Sociology, Community development, Development
studies or related studies
• Professional Experience and Leadership: 10+ years in sexual and reproductive
health, women's rights, and gender justice, with 3 years in senior leadership roles.
• Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of women's rights, gender-
related topics, sexual and reproductive health, and family planning, facilitating substantial
technical support and thought leadership.
• Partnership Development: Strong skills in identifying strategic partners, fostering
relationships, and promoting collaboration for organizational advancement.
• Advocacy Proficiency: Designing and implementing effective advocacy actions at local,
regional, and international levels.
• Communication and Representation: Effective communication, external
representation, and support for advocacy efforts to stakeholders.
• Program and Budget Management: Managing multi-country programs, projects,
and budgets with expertise in donor and partner relations.
• Faith-Based Approaches: Experience utilizing faith-based approaches and
collaborating with relevant actors in the field.
• Research and Impact Evaluation: Strong research, project development,
implementation, and evaluation skills, including comprehensive impact measurement and
reporting. Training in project management, Monitoring and Evaluation
• Partners and Community Engagement: Demonstrated ability to effectively
network within implementing partners' communities and engage in collaborative
initiatives.
• International /Global Exposure: Substantial international /Regional experience is a
must.
• Languages - Oral and written English fluency is required, Knowledge of French, Arabic
is highly desirable
