PHATFIT 1 (ACTIVITY 1)

a.) Importance of Physical Education in school.

Being a student is what usually shapes our interest with the help of school’s various
activities. These various activities mostly fall under the academic umbrella which means
students face math equations or book reviews which requires little to no body movement at all.
Hence, Physical Education is also part of the school’s equation to create balance and contrast.

Physical Education is an academic subject and one of its highlights is the introduction of
any sports engagements for students to try. With this early introduction, physical education
helps earlier detection of passion and interest an individual can develop that will help create
more change in the future; be it in recreational or professional aspects. Best examples of this
professional change are the athletes that are discovered through school competition but now
represent our country.

Contrary to most beliefs that physical education only caters to physical matters of our
body, best believe that it also touches the mental aspect of an individual through sports
engagements, resulting in emotional intelligence and sportsmanship. All in all, since the majority
of us spend most of our adolescent and young adult years under the care of our school,
Physical Education helps us nurture and care for our body as much as we look after our minds.

b.) Importance of Physical Education in society.

The status of our current society mostly revolves around the four corners of our phone
screens. Most of our generations sadly value themselves with the numbers of likes, shares and
the activity of their tweets. As a result, the pace of big names being created each day comes
close to the numbers of individuals developing mental problems such as anxiety and
depression.

Physical education plays a big role with these matters because the earlier we are taught
on what and how to properly nutrition ourselves and give importance to moderate-vigorous
exercise as much as we value rest, then most members of society would not fall for these click-
bait and unhealthy youtube videos of excruciating body exercises which only results to do more
harm than good. With the help of Physical Education, we get to anchor our physical beings with
proper training and most importantly, spread awareness on physical matters that are often
overlooked so we all can be of help not just to our peers but the general population of our
society. With physical education, our well-being can be properly taken care of so that we can
continue the cycle of healthy movements and pass them on to our current generation who
dangerously need intervention.
c.) Importance of Physical Education in life.
As a young adult trying to gear my way through adulthood as I juggle school and
personal life, I’m a firm believer that the importance of physical education now will create a
much greater ripple effect in the future. Best example of this is how my current read Atomic
Habits describes the power of small decisions accumulated over the years. If we were to simply
engage with Physical education and take in each lesson it could teach and apply it to ourselves
day by day or by week, we will reap its results nonetheless no matter how slow we are. And
usually, what awaits us in the end are better quality life, emotional intelligence, self efficacy and
healthy living. As we also continue to adapt to our current digital age where we are also prone to
develop mental issues, engaging in physical education opens opportunities for us to divert our
attention to recreational activities.

Now that we have faced the threat of the coronavirus before and with the nature of our
country with typhoons each year, being completely aware of what physical education could offer
to us also means we are creating a conscious decision to look after our physical being more
than ever.
