B. Development of the lesson

1. Motivation:
Presenting my simple class rules, which are
1. Do not talk when you are not called.
2. Using of smartphones is not allowed
3. I am only allowing one student to go outside.
The teacher highlighted the words that can be contracted and will ask
the students to make the words shorter.

2. Lesson Proper/ Discussion:

For today, we will be talking about contraction words. Since the word
“contract” means to squeeze together, contraction word, or simply
contraction, is a word that is made by shortening a word or combining
two words. These contractions are abbreviated versions of a word or
words. We can contract words in two ways. First is by using
apostrophes to replace letters when we combine two words.

For example, the words “would have” will become “would’ve”.

Can you say it after me? Would’ve.
We can also negate this by adding “not”. For example, we can say
“wouldn’t” for “would not”. Who could give other examples of a
contraction that came from two joined words? Second is by
compressing the word. An example of this is when we write “captain”
to just “capt.”
Let us see these charts as examples:
3. Generalization:
As mentioned earlier, we have the shortening of a subject pronoun plus
a verb and the shortening of a verb plus a negation adverb not. Both are
what we call contraction words or simply contractions.

4. Application:
By using contractions, compose a sentence that will describe your
friends or classmates or make a sentence that will describe yourself.

IV. Evaluation
