Task 1: Complete the table below; list down the elements present in each of the models discussed and
discuss your insights/understanding of the model based on the discussion.

Communication Model Elements of Communication Insights

Present
Aristotle’s Model  Sender  In Aristotle’s Model, it shows a
 Message one-way communication
 Receiver process, this means, receiver
can decode the sender’s
message but will not be able
to send feedback.
Schramm’s Model  Encoder, Interpreter, Decoder  In Schramm’s Model, there is
 Message a thorough and smooth
 Decoder, Interpreter, Encoder process in which the sender
and/or receiver can either
shifts roles creating a cycle in
the communication.
Berlo’s SMCR Model  Sender  In Berlo’s Model, five
 Message elements are present in the
 Channel communication process and if
 Receiver one element does not
 Feedback function properly, a failure will
result in the communication.
Shannon-Weaver’s Model of  Information Source  In Shannon-Weaver’s Model,
Communication  Transmitter communication is inspired by
 Signal radio and television
 Noise Source transmitters. Sender and
 Received Signal receiver are able to play their

Transactional Model/Non-Linear  Sender (Encodes/Decodes)  In the Transactional Model,

the flow of the
communication.
Task 2: Create your own creative Model of Communication. You will be given the freedom to decide
which among the elements will be present in your model. Provide a short explanation.

In this communication process, four elements are present. Each element is considered to exist in the
process, such as the barrier or noise, which can be expected to disrupt the flow of communication.
