Work Coordination Process

Definition of coordination
1. The process of coordinating individuals or groups so that they work
effectively and efficiently together;
2. Harmonious working of each member for successful performance.

Team coordination or work coordination is the process

of organizing people or groups so that they work together
properly and well. It is making all the people involved in a
plan or activity work together in an organized way.

In TLE-CSS9, there are series of hands-on activities

assigned to students and it involves work coordination.
During laboratory students are expected to
work/coordinate with their classmates and teacher to finish the tasks. Coordination
ensures a team work as a unitary entity, which is very important mechanism for
recognizing the success of the work team. It is an organized arrangement of efforts
to ensure coordination of action in order to achieve a shared goal, while cooperation
signifies the joint efforts of individuals on a cooperative basis to achieve a specific
objective.
Everyone is willing to work with others, or to help others, the early success of
an organization depends on the degree of coordination. There is a direct link between
achievement of objectives and coordination.
Therefore, the presence of cooperation can prove to be an effective condition
or a necessity for coordination. It must be done through the conscious and deliberate
efforts of everyone thus, it can be concluded that cooperation without coordination
has no fruit and coordination without cooperation is less essential.

Important Tips for Work Coordination Process

Managing workflow can be difficult. In order to achieve better work output,
one must follow the Work Coordination Process below:
1. Set specific rules.
It means setting out the steps to be done in order to
finish the tasks in the right way. A group is blindly
going forward without specific rules, or there is no
clear process for completing a task. This leads to an
uncertainty which reduces productivity.
Everybody must understand and follow rules or
instructions in performing any task during laboratory
to properly execute the steps efficiently.
2. Follow established steps.
Skipping a particular phase affects the
efficiency of the process and will have a
negative effect on the performance. Ensuring
that every phase of the process is completed
and accounted for will greatly support
workflow.

3. Proper communication is important.

When communication fails,
students have difficulties in being
as efficient and successful as
they can be. Some of the students
never interact with their peers
and teacher. It would be crucial
in having a quality output.
The best thing to do is to clarify
everything before starting the activity. Through proper
communication, it helps to develop understanding productivity
among students. Thus, effective communication also builds trust in
a group while creating a safe and secure working environment.

4. Have a visual representation of workflow.

Following the steps of a task
with notes or photographic
memory will help you visualize
the process and can be counter-
productive to the task.

Problems in Operational Workflow

Some of the common workflow problems faced in a group & organization
include:
✓ setting clear rules for a job,
✓ going through the procedures,
✓ proper communication
✓ and having a visual representation of operational workflow.
Benefits of Successful Workflow Coordination
By solving the above issues, you can maximize workflow performance to
increase productivity. If you are able to manage workflow correctly, you can set the
rules and position them in a centralized location that workers can access and follow.
Successful coordination also means improved communication. With better
coordination and the opportunity to see the progress of a mission in real time, there
is less time spent trying to find out the status. Instead, the team is still aware of
what's going on and knows where to start.
, Workflow automation can make a dramatic difference, ensure that people
concentrate on their duties and communicating within the context of work is easy,
and increase team workflow efficiency.

Why Work coordination is important?

Encourages team spirit
Gives proper direction
Facilitates motivation
Helps to achieve objectives quickly
Improves relations in the organization
Improves at-work efficiency

It is important for all levels of organization. It is a system definition with

coordination features / coordination characteristics. Raising the size and complexity
with operations; the need for coordination occurs as soon as the operations become
numerous and complex.
