VI. Rationale:
Cleanliness is an essential component of human life in physical and spiritual terms. It is vital to lead a healthy
and well life because health and cleanliness are related. Because of an unclean environment, this scattered waste on
the streets ends up in our canals and rivers, causing water pollution and clogged sewage systems leading to flash
floods. According to different studies, an unclean environment increases the probability of having dengue, malaria,
leptospirosis, etc. It was even seen that the number of deaths caused by dengue in the Philippines reached over two
thousand in 2018, and that was 496 cases more than the previous year.

An unclean environment is mainly caused by lack of awareness, lack of discipline, and lack of trash bins within
different designated areas. With what was stated, “Operasyon Kalinisan: Ang Daan ng Kalikasan, Alay ng Kabataan,”
is a project that could help clean our environment and at the same time spread awareness of what the negative impacts
of an unclean environment would be. Making and creating sustainable trash bins with materials such as bamboo could
be a small step in helping lessen the scattered garbage on the streets. Planning and conducting a short seminar about
proper waste disposal in areas with these issues is essential. Having a clean-up drive within certain designated areas
(Langihan Road and Andaya Street) can help motivate the residents in developing and maintaining a clean and safe
environment for all.
VII. Objectives
This CWTS Project will be geared towards the support for the “Operasyon Kalinisan: Ang Daan ng
Kalikasan, Alay ng Kabataan.” This project aims to achieve the following:
● To help the community by dedicating efforts to clean while instilling environmental awareness among
community residents;
● To develop and maintain cleanliness within the designated area with the help of creating sustainable
trash bins that are handmade by the NSTP students;
● To help recognize the resident’s role in maintaining their community’s cleanliness; and
● To help address the ever-growing issue of pollution and improper waste disposal within the area.

VIII. Performance Indicator:

Based on similar projects conducted before, it is highly effective in promoting sanitation and cleanliness
and ensuring safe and sure delivery of service with its aim of conserving the environment.

Beneficiaries strongly agreed that they understood the results the drive could bring upon them and that they
have learned the part or role they have to do in this problem. The program provided them the skill of recycling
their garbage, thus, urging them to become more disciplined. On the part of the proponents, they strongly agreed
that they gained a better understanding of environmental preservation and understood the results the drive could
bring upon them. Further, the program empowered them to create beautification projects for the community and
made them realize they have to set good examples for others. (Refer to the Mid Year and Year-end reports)
