Tell us a little about you
Use of there is and there are
We use “there is” and “there are” to express the
existence of something, just as it is done in Spanish
with the verb “haber” in situations like this:
There's somebody at the door.

They are also used to ask about the existence of


something, as in: Are there any questions?

Underline the sentences that begin with There.
Which sentences are plural? Which sentences are singular?
We are going to play
You are going to create 3 sentences telling us something about
yourself.
2 sentences are going to be about true information about you.
And 1 sentence is going to be about false information about you.
(A lie)
You are going to have 5 minutes to create the 3 sentences, and
then, one by one, you are going to share your sentences and the
other classmates are going to try to guess which of the sentences
is false and which are true.
For example:

I love desserts with cinnamon.


I study microbiology.
I love traveling to Chile because I have family
there.
