Today long- distance communication is done mostly by technology (email , WhatsApp , Lline

and phones ,calls , even video calls ). However, with all the new ways to communicate
people are forgetting about writing on pen and paper, the simplest way to communicate long
distance, today people can go on days six months or more without handwriting anything. So
should the education system drop or reintroduce how to properly write to younger students?

Clearly, Typing on technology and is easier, cheaper, faster ,and more convenient for
everyone to do. Hhowever, for younger generations, relying too heavily on technology is
detrimental to their brain function. Typing is far easier then writing , even though typing fast
without mistakes is a skill learned. However, writing takes time, pressure control, a good
motor skills and al lot of effort. Development in any field anything requires a form of
suffering<sacrifice and effort to be exerted and hand writing does help people to get that
additional brain work and it also helps mental strength ,it is very mentally tough to sit for a
many hours writing on any topic .

Other than the importance of writing by hand it is satisfying for most people and gives them a
sense of pride when they are able to communicate their thoughts on paper where others can
see them, example of this are all famous poets and story writers like Edgar Allan Poe. Other
than works of literature that were hand written writing to a friend, family member or other
people is a activity that is private and yet so filling to the soul as they alone are the only ones
who has the right to reed<read what you wrote to them. Writing helps to slow people down in
a modern fast paced world because it can be a a one page letter that took one hour to
complete and the response will be another one page letter that took them 1 hour to make,
hopefully.

Typing and writing are both beneficial to people however they both have their merit place.
once you master one or both skills it will be something that will stick with us untill we die. So
there is no harm done with teaching our younger children to properly write and type.

Points that you can discuss further (developed fromt the ideas from the texts)

• more important to keep up with technology and not be left behind / better preparation for
working life
• shouldn’t sacrifice children’s future for sake of tradition
• content is what matters, not the method of communication
• handwritten texts / ideas have contributed to development of technology – should keep
handwriting
• older people more reliant on handwriting – shouldn’t be excluded because younger people
aren’t taught to handwrite
• both handwriting and technology are needed – both should be taught in schools
• handwriting takes a lot of papers and pen to teach – laptops can store everything
• technology to learn to write is expensive – not all schools or families can afford it
• learning on keyboards is faster, more convenient, less time-consuming
• handwriting lessons make people less dependent on technology / less lazy / more creative
• handwriting reflects unique personality, typing is more generic
• handwriting is an art form / keeps you connected with your culture
• handwriting lessons will help children pass exams / helps with memory and revision
