I. In your own words, briefly describe the following terms in connection to the module:
1. Historical Foundations of the Curriculum
Both instructors and students must understand these historical foundations because they offer
important insights into how contemporary courses are developed and structured. We can examine the
elements that have influenced our curriculum to gain a better understanding of its advantages and
disadvantages.
2. Sociological Foundations of the Curriculum
The connection of the sociological foundations of the curriculum to the module is that we can
get the resources to develop inclusive, by acknowledging education as a social institution influenced by
numerous societal circumstances. Our module transforms into a dynamic platform for encouraging social
change through an awareness of cultural diversity. With the help of these sociological insights, educators
can motivate a new generation of students who will be prepared to navigate a world that is always
changing not only with academic knowledge but also with social consciousness and empathy.

II. Identify what period is being described according to the Philippine historical foundation
of curriculum in the sentences below. Write your answer in the space provided.

Spanish Period 1. Establish parochial schools in accordance with the primary goal of education
and to spread Christianity throughout the archipelago.

The Thomasites 2. First group of teachers arrived in Manila through the Thomas ship.

Education 3. The objective of the curriculum during this period was to prepare children become
good husbands and wives as well as to become productive members of the community.

Fifth Republic 4. TESDA was created through Republic Act 7796.

1. What is the relevance of studying the historical foundations of curriculum in relation to being
future teachers? Why is there a need to study it? Would it help teachers in developing the
curriculum? Support your answer with examples.
The relevance of studying the historical foundations of curriculum in relation to being
future teachers is it help us to have a comprehensive understanding on how educational system
started or evolved. We can also identify some things and it encourages us to have a critical
thinking. We need to study this to helps us to build critical thinking abilities, adapt to varied
learner requirements, and promote diversity. Yes! It would help teacher in developing the
curriculum. For example, the struggles for equal educational rights throughout history have
influenced how special education has been incorporated into regular schools.

2. Explain thoroughly your point of view in the adage “What is now isn't necessarily what needs
to remain”.
My point of view in the badge “What is now isn’t necessarily what need to remain” is
about the progress, and flexibility in the face of changing conditions. It says that we should be
open-minded and adaptable. It inspires us to adopt a futuristic or imagining viewpoint that values
invention, advancement, and growth. We should consider factors such as equality, justice, and
human rights.
