Learning Media
Every tool used to transmit information or messages from one location to another is referred to as
media. Utilizing media in the teaching and learning process helps to make the process efficient
and entertaining. Generally, the media is a tool that conveys or delivers teaching messages.
Meanwhile, learning media include all means, tools, and media used in the learning process.
So teaching media refers to all equipment that a teacher may employ to give lessons to pupils in
order to achieve certain learning objectives.
According to (Latuheru 1988), learning media are useful in attracting students' interest in the
learning material presented. This is also useful for increasing students' understanding of the
material presented. In this way, it is important to apply learning media during teaching and
learning to increase students' enthusiasm for learning.
Furthermore, Gagne and Briggs (1975) in Arsyad (2013: 4) explicitly say that learning media
include tools that are physically used to convey the contents of teaching materials. From these
two definitions, the media is a tool used to convey learning material.
In addition teaching media function based on Mulyani in Dewi (2012:13) are:
a. Auxiliary tool to create effective learning situation.
b. Integral part of all learning situation.
c. To concrete the abstract concept, so, can decrease verbal comprehension.
d. To build up students’ motivation to learn.
In addition, students do more learning activities, because they not only listen to the teacher's
description, but also other activities such as observing, doing, demonstrating, and so on.

Based on my interview to the primary school student, learning media that is used are WhatsApp
and Youtube during online class. The teacher send the material and assignment through
WhatsApp and the the students observed and the students who already finished with their
homework send it to the teacher through WhatsApp. For example, teacher send the video from
Youtube to the WhatsApp group and asked the students to do as the video tells in this case
singing. And the students should record themselves and send it to the teacher.
When it comes to face to face learning, the media that is used is a course book and worksheet.
The students asked by the teacher to open page that will learn in that meeting, and they learn it
together. Also teacher give the students a worksheet that must be completed by the students.
Based on my interview to the senior high school student, the media that is used during online
class was Zoom, WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and Power Point Presentation. The teacher
shows a presentation slide on Zoom and the students observed it. During online class, the
students should be turn the camera on as a proof of their attendance. And the teacher also send
the material via WhatsApp group. When the teacher cannot come to the class, the teachers send
the material via WhatsApp group.

So based on my analysis, the media that is used at elementary school was visual and audio
visual. In my opinion, the media use during online class was good. But I think it makes the
students especially young learners bored. But it
