Okay class, today we will be talking about

changes that materials undergo, from solid to
liquid.
What will we be talking about again?
Changes that materials undergo, from solid to
liquid.

Very good.
Now, when we talk about changes, what comes
to your mind?
Yes, Ivhan?
Change is when something becomes different,
Maam Loi.

Very good Ivhan.

So when we talk about changes, there is
something that happened to the object, or there
is a difference in the structure of the object to its
original form.

When we talk about solids, what do we mean by

solid again?
A solid is a state of matter that retains its shape
and density when not confined.

Very good!
So we all know that a solid maintains it shape,
can you give examples of solid class?
Hollowblocks maam.

Rocks maam.

Wood maam.

The whiteboard maam.

Television maam.

Ice maam.

All your answers are correct. Very good class!

Now, I have here an ice. I want you all to observe

what will happen to the ice as the time pass by.
*The teacher will show a ball of wax and will put
it on the spoon with a candle on the bottom of it.

So class, what have you observed in the wax as

time pass by?
The wax melted maam.

That’s a great answer very good.

So when it turned it melted, what state of matter
is the wax in right now?
Liquid maam.

Very good! The ice, which is solid, is now a liquid.

Can anyone guess why this happened?
Because of heat maam.

Very good! So because of heat, the wax which is

in solid state becomes on liquid state in the form
of?
Melted wax maam.

Very good class!

So that is what we call changes that materials
undergo. There is a significant difference from the
original shape of the wax, it became melted wax
which is in liquid state.

Do you all understand?

Yes maam!

Very good class!

Babalik na sa solid

Application

So class, I will group you into 4 groups. I want you

to do an observation upon the material that I will
give to you. Now, when the time ends, I want you
to write on the pieces of paper that I will give to Yes maam!
you. Did everyone understand?

*The students will count from 1-4.

That’s great. Now, let us start the counting.
Now, I want you all to go to your respective
groups and when I say go, open the cover for you
to see the material inside. *The students will see an ice on a plate.

You may begin to observe what will happen to

the ice as time pass by. And write it in the pieces
of paper that I gave to you. I will give you 5
minutes to observe.

Okay, time is up.

So class, what have you observed in the ice?
The ice melted maam.

Very good. Any more answers? The ice turned into water maam.

That is a great answer. So what can you say when

the ice turned into water? The ice which is in solid state, turned into water
which is in liquid state maam.

Very good! So that is our lesson for today class,

that is what changes that materials undergo from
solid to liquid.
