Detailed Lesson Plan In Science 2

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. identify the three phases of matter;

b. determine whether the object is a solid, liquid, or gas; and

c. give examples of a solid, liquid, and gas.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Three Phases of Matter

b. References: https//ww.scienceworld.ca/resource/statesmatter

c. Materials: Video presentation, stone, bottled water, balloons, worksheets.

III. Procedure

Teacher's Activity Students Activity

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Prayer

Before we start our class, please stand up

everyone for our prayer.

Jovelyn please lead the prayer.

( students will pray)
2. Action song

3. Greeting

Good morning, class! Good morning, Ma'am!

4. Attendance

Is there any absent today? No one is absent, Ma'am!

Okay good no one is absent today.

You may now take your seats. Thank you, Ma'am!

B. Review

Now, before we proceed to our lesson, let's do

a recap from our previous lesson.

What was our last lesson class?

Our last lesson was all about matter.
Very good!

What is matter? Yes, Maria?

Matter is anything that has weight and takes up
space. And all the things around us is a matter.
Even the air we breathe is also a matter.

Excellent, Maria!
Yes, Ma'am.
Understand class?

Okay let's proceed to our new lesson.

C. Motivational Activity

Class, what do you see around our room? Yes, I see a bag and chairs, Ma'am.
Robe Iza?

Very good, Robe Iza!

Notebook and pen, Ma'am.
What else? Yes, Jovelyn?

Good Job, Jovelyn!

Now class, I have here a stone, water, and

balloon.

Let's start with the stone.

Circle, Ma'am.
What do you think is the shape of stone? Yes
Rachel? Yes, Ma'am.

Great! Can you touch it? Yes, Ma'am.

What about the water, what can you say about

it, do the water and cup have the same shape?

Very good!

Lastly, what can you say about the balloon? Yes

Jessa Mae? It is colorful, Ma'am.

Good Job!

We call this things as, Matter.

Everybody say, Matter. Everybody will say: Matter

Everything we see and everything we touch is

called matter, because matter is everywhere!

Understand class?
Yes, Ma'am.
Very good!

D. Lesson proper

Our lesson for today is all about, "Three Phases

of Matter."

There are three phases of matter namely; solid,

liquid, and gas.

Let's discuss them one by one class.

The first one is solid.

SOLIDS - relatively rigid, definite volume and
shape. In a solid, the atoms and molecules are
attached to each other. They vibrate in place
but don't move around.

So, I have here a stone, a stone is one of the

example of solid, because it has a definite
shape that occupy spaces.

Always remember class, we can determine the

object if it is a solid, if we can touch and see it.

The second phases of matter is liquid.

2. LIQUIDS - definite volume but able to change

shape by flowing. In a liquid, the atoms and
molecules are loosely bonded. They move
around but stay close together.

I have here an empty cup and a water. It only

shows that the liquid takes the shape of the
cup.

So, the third phases of matter is gas.

3. GASES - no definite volume or shape. The

atoms and molecules move freely and spread
apart from one another.

This balloon is filled with air inside and the air is

an example of gas. Air cannot be seen, because
it's colorless but it can be felt.

There are also gases that can be seen like

smoke and clouds.

E. Application

So now class, let's have an activity, I will divide

the class into two groups.
Direction: Put the pictures in it's state of matter
and paste it on the board.

( students will do the activity)

SOLID LIQUID GAS

I will give you five minutes to do your activity.

You may now start.

F. Generalization

What do we call the things around us? It is called matter, Ma'am.

Very good!

What are the three phases of matter? The three phases of matter are solid, liquid, and
gas, Ma'am.
Excellent!
An example of solid are stones, chair and table,
Give an example of solid!
Ma'am.
Good!

How about gas?

An example of gas are oxygen and balloons,
Good job! Ma'am.

How about liquid? An example of liquid are water, vinegar and juice,
Ma'am.
Very good!

G. Evaluation

To test your understanding, I will give you a

worksheet and answer this.
( students will answer the evaluation)
Direction: Write s if it is solid, L if it is liquid, and
G if it is gas. Write your answers inside the box
beside each picture.

1.
expected answers:

1. G

2. L
2. 3. L

4. S

5. S

3.

4.
5.

I will give you ten minutes to do your task. You

may start now!

Alright are you done class?

You may pass your paper in front.

Yes, Ma'am.

H. Assignment

Take out your notebook and copy your assignment. (the students will copy their assignment)

Direction: Cut out 3 pictures for each phases of

matter, paste it on your assignment notebook.

Do you have any question class?

None, Ma'am.
Alright, that's all for today! Good bye everyone!
Good bye, Ma'am!
